Why I started this site:
I was born and raised a Democrat in Grand Rapids Michigan. I was liberal and at times far left. While I was a student at Michigan State Univesity, my politics became more conservative. In 1984 I considered myself a conservative Democrat and during the 1984 Election I voted for Ronald Reagan. My transformation from a liberal Democrat to a conservative took approximately two years: from 1983 to 1985. I have been active in both the Democrat and Republican parties. My hope is that one day the Democratic Party move to the strength and vision it once had - supporting a bipartisan peace-through-strength foreign and military policy. Support American businesses and working men and women in the United States, abandoning anti-Americanism, support new missions of space exploration similar to the grand vision of Project Apollo.
I was not energized by the 2000 Election and did not even bother to vote. When the Election turned ugly in Florida, I followed the fiasco very closely and I concluded that George W. Bush was indeed the better candidate and wished I had voted for Bush. I was pleased that all vote counts in Florida indicated that Bush had won the election. From that time forward I was determined to vote in every election.
In the days and months following September 11th 2001, I have been very proud of the overall performance and leadership of George W. Bush and the Republican Party.
During the 2002 mid-term election, I concluded that although our successes were great, success is also fleeting. Much of politics is perception and good public relations. No one is better at PR than the liberal wing of Democratic Party. It is time that the conservatives in both major parties begin an ongoing ever-present campaign to win the hearts and minds of the American People.
