WALKER: Do you have one concert experience that stands out in your mind as being incredible or really special to you -- where you really connected with the audience?
TORI AMOS: Right after Kurt Cobain died and I didn't know him. I was in Dublin, we were playing outside and I did "American Pie" after I had done "Teen Spirit" or before, I don't really remember that night, it's kind of a blur. But the whole place, a couple thousand kids, knew exactly what it was about. The lights went up, a couple thousand lights all around the place, and in that beautiful Gaelic lilt that they have, singing in perfect pitch, they all sang "Bye bye, Miss American Pie,/Drove my Chevy to the levy..." all together and we did it for like ten minutes, and it became like a hymn or a blessing.
SAROA: How do you feel when people request b-sides that other people don't know at your shows?
TORI: The b-sides are my favorite. On "Spark" there's one, "Cooling," which didn't make "Boys For Pele," and it is the recording that I did in the Irish church. And "Merman," which is like "Cooling" and "Honey" and "Sugar" and "Upside Down." "Merman" is coming out on "Jackie's Strength." "Merman" is one of my favorites, and it didn't make this record.
WALKER: We're all in heaven. Thank you so much, this is so wonderful.
TORI: Thank you so much. Everybody, so glad that we had this time to really talk. We'll see you in the summer. And you'll have to come backstage and tell me what you want to hear. I'll play your requests but I probably won't know the words so you'll have to bring lyrics, I swear, you will. (To a record company staffer) Linda, Linda. We know how to find these wonderful people again, right? So we can get them in to shows next time, because that's appropriate. (She hugs everyone and says good-bye)
