The Middle Isles carry the densest population of the Gaohund people, as well as the being the most industrial. Loyalties and cultural similarities in the Middle Isles tend not to be consistent across islands, but rather the people living in cities and towns along the Sound, who are agricultural and agri-business, associate with each other and look down on the fisherfolk of Stannout, Scotz, Kannad, and Hams (South Shores is a more recent settlement, and consists of summer homes for many of the richer Sounders.) In winter, residents of the Sound have been known to take sleds across the ice.
