With Stabbing Westward there will always be "that one song".
That one song that drew you in and held you fast, wanting more. You may believe this
to be true of all bands, but with Stabbing Westward, what makes this one-song concept so noteworthy,
is that "your" song is not the same as everyone else's. And knowing someone's song may tell
you a lot about them. This knowledge stems from the fact that for many fans of SW music, the
short, thick, heavy, pop-ish constructions of rhythm, beat and angry or sad lyrical word are something
that can be related to in life. For many, SW music has acted as a salve, medication during
rough times.
Those not driven to curiousity upon first radio listen may hear many
SW songs over and over, liking them all but not mentally linking the songs with the band.
In concert, Stabbing Westward just rocks. Talk to anyone who's been to see them and
you'll hear the same. The mix of lights, sound and movement is intoxicating, and without realizing
it, your body will start to move to the driving beat.
They often play in small to
medium-sized clubs, and usually get a good mosh pit going. The shows are relatively cheap, and
if you stick around after the show, you have a pretty good chance of meeting the band.
Personally, I've seen them 5 times, and met them 3 (one of the times a bouncer presented a
friend and I with backstage passes during a show - I think he was impressed by our dancing/headbanging.
heh). All the guys are really charming and nice.
And in case you were wondering...
my song is WDIHTD.
