Competition Updates:
We will be going to Oxford on January 19, 2002, instead of Marine City. It is closer and smaller and a better time frame for the team.
Competition Dates / Times to be announced:
Lapeer Classic at East January 5, 2002
Sandusky, Michigan ….. January 12, 2002 …
( bus time to be announced about 8-9am)
Oxford on January 19, 2002 ….. Start time 11am
Grand Blanc Bobcat Cheer Competition ….
On February 2, 2002. Competitive Cheer will be first in the morning (8-9am) before the rest of the competition.
NOTATION: If the Freshman and JV have their cheers learned and do us proud, the coaches are considering having them cheer at Grand Blanc (2/2) and /or Linden Cheerfest (2/16.)
Linden CheerFest on February 16, 2002. All Day event, but cheer competition will be in the morning. JV and Freshman team may be competing in this event.
Announcement:
Project Graduation is selling Teddy Bears for $20.00 each. Very cute with knitted sweaters with West on the sweaters.
Lapeer Classic Cheer Competition for next year:
East Varsity Coach has approached our coach about hosting Lapeer Classic for next year. We will need to talk to District Athletic Director to see if we can use East’s facilities as we do not have the facilities suitable at West.
We would need to start now with the planning of the event.
Prom Dress Exchange:
An advertisement for a prom dress exchange at Flushing was read. We discussed hosting a similar event with other local schools. Various members are going to contact the other schools in the advertisement and find out more information.
Election for 2002- 2003:
New election for next year’s Booster Club are to be scheduled for March/ April of this years as the parents of this year seniors need to look toward graduation. Larry will still be President of Cheer Booster for next year but we will need a VP, Treasurer, and Secretary. Team Reps are to be selected / volunteer after spring try-outs.
Next Meeting will be Monday, January 7, 2001
Meeting on November 12, 2001:
We are skipping December as there is no new activity being planned past the December 1st Cheer Clinic.
Cheer Clinic was cancelled after the Booster Meeting, due to the Lapeer Christmas Parade. It was anticipated that the majority of the elementary kids will be in the parade.

First Competition on January 5, 2002 at LAPEER EAST / “LAPEER CLASSIC”
First Basketball games (Freshman are on Monday and Wednesday), JV & V are on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Treasures Report:
We currently have over $5000 in the account and have the December Cheer Clinic coming up. After the uniforms are paid for should have over $1000 left in the account.
Coach’s Corner, gave us some money back due to the problems we had getting our blue uniforms. They worked hard to keep get the uniforms here on time.
Cheer Shoes Update:
Shoes can be purchased at Coaches Corners. Adidas, low tops Style # 664337>
White Uniform Update:
Money is available for the new white uniforms. Order was waiting for the LETTER OF AUTHORIZATION from the A.D. The uniforms will take 6 (week of December 24th) to 8 (week of January 12) weeks to get delivered. Emily just got the sizes and style picked and will be making the order now. Hopefully, uniforms will be delivered in time for our first January (01-05-02) competition. We will also need to have them embroidered at some point.
Last of the football sweaters have arrived and there will be an anticipated embroidery fee of $70 to $100.

Cheer Clinic : December 1, 2002
Date and times verified. Janitors will need to be arranged for by the school.
Change of Times Registration will be at 9:30 am until 1:30 –2:30pm.
Amount: $20
Sell cheer related items / old uniforms
Flyers are ready and will be sent out.
The only complaint from the last clinic was a comment made by an attending parent that they would like to see more of what their mini-cheerleaders learned rather than the older girls demonstrations.
Cheer Banquet:
Planning has begun for Cheer Banquet. We will check into getting Elba or Oregon Township halls for reasonable rate. (rent for local usually around $25.00) We will consider a Sunday afternoon (4pm) in March (3rd, 10th, 17th.) District basketball games are during the week. We will talk to the Athletic Director to arrange for certificates. We will have each team assigned to bring a different type of food IE entrée, vegetables and salad, desserts.
Competition Banner:
Motion was voted and passed on to purchase a West Panther Cheerleading Banner for competitions.
Concerns / Trouble Shooting:
Concerns about POLO gymnastics classes and progress (lack of) made. Not enough back walk-overs / back flips practice. Inadequate spotting during stunting. Long lines to practice stunts.
Discussions about side-line cheering vs competitive cheering.
Tabled to future meetings:
Pop Can Drive to coordinate with the Holidays. Girls are to collect over the Christmas Vacation and bring the money in the first week back from vacation.
Panther Man: Tabled until January meeting.
Next year:
Consider raising money to order total of 5 (to balance the 30 uniforms desired before styles change.)
Rain jackets or poncho with Panther Cheerleaders screened on them for bad weather days. MUST have big arm holes/ snaps to prevent tearing during cheers.
Pop up Tent will be ordered for the 50-50 ticket sales / rain shelter for games for next year.
