A Heart Breaker in Denver In Game 7, on Sunday Night at the sold out Pepsi Center hopes were high as the defending Stanley Cup Champions took the ice to defend there title. Earlier in the series they were down 3 games to 1 as they slowly made there way to tie up the series at Three apiece. The fans were going bananas as the puck was dropped and game 7 was underway. It was a hellofa game as both teams battled back and forth as the game went into sudden death overtime. But, that didn't stop both of the powerhouses as the game was still deadlocked going into the third period. Then at 8:19 into the 2OT Peter Forsberg took a bad cross-checking penality which gave LA a Power Play Advantage and it didn't take them long to capitolize as Ziggy Palffy scored 1:15 seconds into the power play on a feed from Ray Whitney and Michael Peca. As the Kings celebrated one of the biggest upsets in the XHL history the Avs players all stood there in disbelief as there dreams of winning a second cup ended right in front of there eyes. Later that night in a Press Conference Coach Hartley had this to say "Saying this game was a tough loss would be a understatement. We played like cap in 3 games this series and you can't expect to win a series if you don't show up for 3 games." General Manager Richard Blundell also had this to say "Myself and Coach Hartley have come to the conclusion that there might only be a few players from the current team returning next season for the organization. Only a few players are safe the rest might be finding new winter homes for the upcoming season."
