6th Place Girls 9-10 4x100 meter relay team 
On August 12th,2001 four of our Cheetah girls participated in the Hershey North American Finals where they competed against girls from all over the North American Continent in the 4X100 meter relay.The girls fared well placing 6th overall.The girls are from left to right:Kayshea(Anchor),Brooke(3rd leg),Janyece(Lead Off) and Dewana(2nd leg).During their 4 day stay in Hershey,Pennsylvania the girls were treated to a fun day at the Hershey Amusement Park,a trip to the Chocolate Factory,the opportunity to meet with Olympic Gold Medalist Rafer Johnson and lots of other fun activities as well.We are very proud of these four girls and we're extremely grateful for their chance to experience this chance of a lifetime opportunity. Coach Rivers said this about the experience,"We were all so very proud of the girls making it to the North American Finals.It was the first time any of us had been to a competition of that caliber and I think it was more overwhelming for us parents than it was for the kids.Hershey's had done a wonderful job making the atheletes feel at ease and comfortable.They really emphasized having a good time over winning any sort of competition.Something I think all of us parents should take note of". |
