The Port Huron Cheetahs Track & Field Club was established in 1997 as a support tool for elementary and middle school athletics and to help prepare our middle school athletes for high school track & field. Our goal is to promote physical fitness among area youth as well as provide a safe and fun environment for kids to be in.Since 1997 the Cheetahs has brought home many State Championships competing in the Hershey Track & Field Program as well as North American Finalist at the Hershey's in 1991.We also travel to various track & field outtings throughout the summer where the kids have the opportunity to meet friends from across the state of Michigan. We also teach the kids to contribute to the community by getting involved in many community events such as The American Cancer Societies 'Relay for Life' in which we raise funds to contribute to cancer research in helping to fight the battle against cancer.
Coach Rivers says this about the Cheetahs."The Port Huron Cheetahs has always been a pleasure for me.The kids are alot of fun for me to work with and I learn just as much from them as I teach them. Now I know what a sea walk is!" .
The Cheetahs also have a basketball program during the winter months for 4th,5th and 6th grade girls teaching them the fundamentals of basketball. This program is headed by Coach Chris Deems. The basketball program starts in January and ends in May.Registration for this program is $25.00 which entitles the athelete to participate in the track program free.
