Side Notes & Theories

Side note 1: Uncut vs. cut

One interesting point of the uncut version and the cut version is the point where Heero tells Relena he will destroy her in the cut version and he will kill her in the uncut version.  In a way Heero did destroy Relena Darlain.  After she met Heero her life started to change into that of a Peacecraft.  Relena Darlain was destroyed and Relena Peacecraft took over.

Side note 2:  Relena, suicidal or peacekeeper?

Relena seems suicidal because she keeps getting in the line of fire.  I think peacekeeper is a better term.  Many peacekeepers are dreamers that will sacrifice themselves to the purpose.  Relena does just that.  Like Greenpeace people positioning themselves between the whale and the whalers Relena jams herself between two forces.  Greenpeace is between two dangerous forces too, the animal that unpredictable in behavior and the whalers that might kill them to get to the whale.  Relena gets right between Duo and Heero after Duo fires on him she does this again when Zechs and Heero battle.  Inside I think she is just being true to her inheritance.

Side note 3:  Gundam Pilots on the show ending.

Notice that in the credits sequence that each of the pilots are shown as two images except Heero.  Trowa is shown as Pierre the clown and a pilot.  Duo appears in a decorated black outfit (I don’t know the meaning, maybe it is God of Death) with the background of pilot.  Quatre is meditating which goes along with his peaceful demeanor and as always pilot in the background.  Wufei is in his usual outfit with the dragon on his shirt he wants to bring justice.  Heero is just Heero.  He is only a Gundam pilot; he makes no other life for himself and is dedicated to the mission leaving only the mission.

Side note 4:  So how tall are they?

When the Gundam pilots and even Relena are in a situation as kids they are shown very small in comparison to the adults.  When by themselves they are indistinguishable from the adults.  They have the manner of mature people and the maturity even between the child shots they seem more or less insignificant in the scene depending on how the adults respond to them.  Zechs is even shown small in some of his Milliardo scenes.

Side note 5:  Gundam Restraints

I was wondering what was the point of the full body seat belts.  They never seem to catch the pilots, when the Gundam is on its belly the pilot is smashed against the front wall every time.  I’ve come to the conclusion they are there only to keep the pilot in his seat after a sudden hit.
