Gaming News

Finally, after nearly five years of  hush-hush development, Valve Software is releasing the sequel to Half-Life, none other than Half-Life 2.  Scheduled to hit the shelves as early as September 30th, HL2 features semi-destructable environments, enhanced enemy and NPC AI, its own graphics engine, new characters and weapons, a breathtaking physics engine, and corpse dismemberment.  I need a new PC game to play, and this looks to be the one we've all been waiting for!

id is bringing back the legend. Doom returns after Doom II, Final Doom, and Ultimate Doom with, oh - oh:  Doom III.  It boasts the greatest graphics engine on the home PC and a whole new level in audio environment effects.  Plus, it'll scare you even more than before!

WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos has proven to be, as Blizzard Entertainment never fails to achieve, one of the greatest games of all time.  Its fantastic interlacing of classic real time strategy fun with the features of dungeon-hack style role playing make this game better than any other Blizzard game i've ever played, which easily makes it the best RTS/RPS ever created by beings man or god.

I read, also, that the late Lucas Arts is releasing a sequel to its famed Full Throttle title that was put out oh so long ago.  Perhaps the ole' factory can turn out some good games once again.  We shall certainly see, as I will likely be rather critical.

My Top 10 Favorite Games

  1. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault  The immersion this shooter offers is amazing.  If only developers could push this kind of ingenius on all games, I'd never sleep.
  2. Half-Life (including mods)  I think everyone agrees that this game brought forth a whole new generation in the way gamers and developers think about their gaming experience.
  3. WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos  There is no better developer than Blizzard and there is no better Blizzard game than WarCraft III.
  4. Driver  I can't stress enough how great this little-known PC game really is.  It is distinctly better than the PlayStation version.  Now if only they'd release Driver 2 for PC too.
  5. Max Payne  Another great game for immersion.  The environmental effects, story and coloration have shown that the amount of time spent developing this game was well worth it.
  6. Return to Castle Wolfenstein  Not a total success as new games go, but an awesome adaptation on the most revolutionary game in video game history.
  7. Jedi Knight  The Star Wars franchise has never been honored more than by such a masterpiece.  It is truly too bad that Lucas Arts has chosen the Dark-Side.
  8. Tomb Raider  By far, the most over saturated game title in the industry.  However, I have many fond memories of playing this classic in pure awe of the concept.
  9. WarCraft II  Before there was WC3, there was another amusing, vampiric, time-absorbing game.
  10. Re-Volt  A nice little game with plenty of custom maps to satisfy your craving for more Driver.
