You need no wings of wire or net,
No gown of frothy white
To be a lovely angel
In the Christmas play tonight.
"Retarded", some would say
That you're a child of twenty-three.
But you are so much more than that
To those who really see.
Is it a disability
To spend these years at play?
To dwell on Earth in innocence
Until you fly away?
Your love is unconditional,
It shows in all you do.
So which of us is handicapped?
Am I the one, not you?
