Bunta is Takumi's father. His driving skills are unmatched. We only see him drive once throughout first stage, which is if I remember correctly, after Takumi's race with Shingo. He has been training Takumi to be a racer like him, without him knowing about it, for the last 5 years by making him do the late night tofu deliveries at the resorts by the lake. Bunta really doesn't appear too much in first stage other than for a little comic relief and to help explain things here and there. He really doesn't seem too social, and he is almost always smoking. Even in the middle of his drifting he will take his hands off of the wheel to light up.
