Dental Health Aides Face D.C. Opposition
Mood:  cool

Topic: U.S. Congress
In Alaska some people have to go very far to get dental care. A women dental who is a health aide therapist in Alaska was doing things with peoples teeth in the area. Some members of Congress, joined by the American Dental Association said that she was not qualified to do this and she could ruin some of her patients teeth. The reason they go to her is because they do not have 200 dollars to spend to go fly to a dentist office. Theres been a debate on whether or not they should bring dentists to small areas.

Do you think the woman in Alaska should be able to practice dental work there?
and
Do you think they should bring dentist offices into small rural areas?

I believe that woman in ALaska should be able to practice dental work, and that they should bring dentist offices into small rural areas. I believe that these Alaskan woman should practice dentistry because they would be helping out people in need of dental work on their teeth. Teeth care and mouth care is important and extremely unhealthy not to be taken care of. I also believe that these dentist offices should be brought into small rural areas just because of that, to help people out. It makes perfect sense to help out people in need of dental care, and this proposition would be the solution to the problem.

I think that in their part it was not a discrimaination act on the women practising dental stuff in her patients. The problem was that she is not certified. You have to be certified to practice many things that are ment to happen with patents. In so she could go to school and go in to the profesion, and study it.
People would just have to chooos either to stay in a place that is so rural, or for someone to come to Alaska.

I read, “Court to Weigh Never-Enforced Abortion Law” on abcnews.com.
In New Hampsire there is a law that requires parental notification before a minor has an abortion. Some people are saying that it is a step backward for women’s rights, and some are saying that its protecting parents’ rights. Supporters of the law say that the law allows a girl to go see a judge instead of a parent if her health is in danger. Opponents say that judges shouldn’t be making those kinds of decisions, that it should be left up to a doctor. Opponents are also saying that this law is an attempt to chip away at the Roe v. Wade decsion that legalized abortion. Nearly all states have some sort of law that requires parental involvement when minors have abortions. The public is split as to what is right, so the decision on whether this law is ok lies with the Supreme Court.
My question is, should minors be allowed to get abortions without their parents knowing, or is the New Hampshire law right?

People should work together to bring dentists to the Alaskan region. The reason why there aren't any there is because Bush isn't allowing it. He's saying that the Alaskans are not equal to the other states. He is even going far enough to discriminate his own people.
