Bradysaurus Found In South Africa

This site, found on the Melton Wold Safaris Ranch, is where a Bradysaurus was found and a monument was created to display it. BRADYSAURUS, A group of extinct early reptiles found in South Africa as fossils in deposits from the Permian Period (290 million to 248 million years ago). Bradysaurus belonged to a larger group of reptiles called pareiasaurs, which were characterized by massive bodies, strong limbs and limb supports, and grotesque skulls with many bony protuberances. Pareiasaurs were not dinosaurs. They are the ancestors of all other reptiles and combine characteristics of both amphibians and reptiles. Read Enclyopaedia Britannica for full story.
