THE NAME SHEE:

O'Shea ("grandson of Seaghdha" - majestic or learned), Shea, and (O')Shee are Anglized from the Irish O'Séaghdha, from the personal name Séaghha, meaning "hawk-like" or "fortunate." The surname began in south Kerry, on the Iveragh peninsula, where the family held power in the early Middle Ages. Other members lived in Tipperary and Kilkenny and took the Shee version of the name (Greham, John. The Little Books of Irish Clans. New York: Chartwell Books, Inc., 1994).
