THE ICONS ABOVE -

The images above represent some of the most popular icons of mythology and legends. I have loved myths and legends since childhood. My paternal grandmothers all told me stories whenever our families united for my great-grandmother Harriet's birthday, she was the elder of the family and lived to age 95. She claimed herself as a descent of Pocahontas, daughter of Powhatan, weromancer of all the Virginian early tribes.

My other grandmother, Grace Lenor, told stories of her mother, Ermina (my great-grandmother), who was a healer in the Mohawk Bear Clan of the Iroquois Confederacy.

My maternal grandmother was 100% Scottish and the first of her line to emigrate to America in the 1900's. She knew many Celtic stories. All these cultures have a great similarity. :

• The Peacock .....
  The Peacock is a stately and proud bird, who struts around many parks and private homes. They are rather protective of their grounds and were used as guard birds in the Orient, their loud cries would alert they masters of intruders. The peacocks I remember most are the peacocks in Mexico at our favorite hotel in Cancun City, the Plaza Caribe. We awoke everyday to their morning wake up calls as they begged for hand-outs from the cooks. Peacocks feathers and coats of arms with peacocks were used worldwide as symbols of nobility.

  The Swan .....

  The graceful swan has been admired by various royals through the years. King Ludwig II had many peacock and swan motifs in his castles. The Swan King was a favorite German legend.

  The Turtle Clan .....

  turtle clan people are in tune with nature, and is was said that the World Tree grew on the back of a turtle.

  Bee Lore .....

  The bee pollenates fruit and flowers and is a extremely necessary part of nature's balance. My great-grandmother Ermina was a bee-keeper. She never wore a mask or any other protection, but she was NEVER stung, even though they covered her entire body at times.

  The White Horse has many different admirers from ancient kings to Native American Indians. The white horse was bred in many countries for shows and parades. Svantevit, a Baltic God, rode a white horse at dusk to reek vengence on his enemies. ALL these legends and many more will be discussed below.
