- The Buffalo Hunter's favorite rifle were large caliber Sharps, Remington, Winchester, and Ballard brand names.
- James "Scotty" Phillips was the owner of 73 Cattle Ranch. Scotty was married to a Cheyenne woman and fathered ten children. He is noted to have captured five bison calves and eventually built a herd of more than a thousand buffalo (bison).
