Up, Up and Away

You might see a five-piece African-American group on the label Soul City and assume this is some sort of R&B group. Well, you should know that: 1) Soul City was owned by Johnny Rivers who 2) discovered them singing in a supper club.
This really isn't any sort of rock and roll (my mother thinks the title song is "really neat") so I don't think I'm really qualified to rate it. If you like Jimmy Webb, he's got 6 songs on here. There's a neat cover of the Mamas and Papas' "Go Where You Want to Go." I think the soprano's a little screechy, but the alto and the lead tenor both have wonderfully smooth voices, and the arrangements are spot-on. It's just that it's all so mellow, it really didn't help me stay up with Abe.
