After finding
out that tickets to see the Flaming Lips and Beck were over 50 dollars back in
November at the Detroit Opera House, I thought I were forever doomed to spend a
Flaming Lips-less existence. Well, thankfully that was not the case. Thanks to
my good friend Justin, I was given a second chance after all. Regardless of the
fact that I had finals the week of the concert and really could have used
the money I was spending on tickets for something more vital like say, food
or bills, I knew I could not miss the Lips this time around. Even though I
felt just a tad bit guilty for dragging Justin along to probably the
weirdest concert of his life (thank you Justin!), I can say, it was worth it.
This concert was a Jenny wonderland: balloons, confetti, sparkly toys, blow up
robots, space music, strobe lights, and just about anything that can trick
your senses into think you are dropping acid. (even though Jenny wouldn't know
about dropping acid, so don't be getting any wrong ideas!) Overall, this
concert was priceless, if you haven't heard the Flaming Lips yet or haven't
been to a concert of their's, I highly suggest you check them out! Also,
keep an eye out on them for their movie "Christmas on Mars" coming out in
December 2003. If that sparks your interest, check out www.flaminglips.com
