the story of Adriana and Jack Frost's Flight and Cerise and Brilliance's 1st FlightIt was a normal day at the beach, until...
Oh, hello, I didnt know anyone was here. Ill start at the beginning for you, if you have any questions, just ask. How silly of me, my name is Lessa Lynn. My friend Cynther is busy taking care of her many creatures right now, so she cant be here to tell you about this. Heres how it happened, from the very beginning of that day.
"Cynther, are you coming?" I called up the stone steps to her dressing room. "Just a minute," she called back down. "Okay, Ill go get Jack Frost and Cerise while you finish up. Im leaving Jason here, he wants to play with Logan for awhile. Philantees is staying with Janice back at my weyr."
To my dragons I say, "Call your friends now, we dont want to spend all day here." Soon Jack Frost and Cerise fly up, both sending colorful bursts of images into my mind along with friendly chirps to their playmates. I can tell that they are anxious to leave for the beach.
As Cynther comes running down the stairs with all the necessary beach items, Logan appears to wish us all a good time. I thank him for watching Jason as we head out the cave entrance.
I dont know about Cynther, but I myself prefer flying, so I change into minidragon form to match the pace being set. As we make our way to the beach, the dragons get more and more impatient to finally arrive. To speed things up, I change into Pegasus form and give Cynther a lift. With the minidragons squealing in delight, we set off again, but much faster now that everyone can fly.
Upon arriving at the beach, Cynther and I set up all the umbrellas, beach towels, and toys for the dragons. For now, they are content to bask in the warm sun while we take a soothing dip to rejuvenate ourselves after the journey.
As we walk out of the water, we see Cerise and Adriana mischievously glancing around and chirping to one another. "Whats gotten into them?" I ask Cynther. "Who knows," she replies, "but lets find out." Before we can get to them, they spring into the air and then crash land on the males who are still sunbathing. Surprised and a little bit angry at their sudden awakening, Brilliance and Jack Frost spring at the females, attempting to give them a taste of their own medicine. With one quick glance at each other, Cerise and Adriana take to the skies with the males in hot pursuit.
Cynther and I stand there awestruck. It suddenly occurs to us what has just happened! Our females have initiated a mating flight. So much for a quiet, relaxing day at the beach.
It is like watching synchronized swimming, only, in the air. Adriana and Cerise dart and dive in unison with Jack Frost and Brilliance close behind, not gaining and not losing ground.
Suddenly the females split. Brilliance, not wanting Jack Frost anywhere near "his" female, propels himself after Cerise. Paying no heed to anything else, Jack Frost follows Adriana.
Adriana and Jack Frost
Adriana heads for the neighboring forest with Jack Frost in pursuit. Adriana has an advantage in the woods because she is a female, which makes her by nature more agile then her male counterpart. She is also at a disadvantage though because a male will do just about anything to catch the female he is chasing.
Adriana streaks through the forest, her teal hide glinting in the sunlight patches. She barrel rolls around trees, pirouetting in the middle of open glades, abruptly changing directions every now and then. Jack Frost, flying hard, tries to avoid trees while keeping his eyes locked on the teal streak ahead of him. Swooping and darting, they weave their way through the trees.
Bursting through the canopy, Adriana heads toward the skies about the sea. Not wanting her to pull any tricks out on the water, Jack Frost dives down to the waters surface and freezes it. Seeing this, Adriana flies over Jack Frosts head back into the forest. They head for the swampy section, and Jack Frost gets an idea. As soon as Adriana gets over the marshy ground, he freezes the water up into a cavern surrounding her. Adriana, knowing that she is trapped, uses her abilities to make a small tree on the ground underneath her start to grow much more rapidly than it normally would. Riding in its branches as it reaches towards the sky, she manages to get it to break the top off of the ice cavern. As Adriana flies up out of the tree, Jack Frost wraps himself around her and latches on to the tree with his hind feet.
An eternal bond is formed between the two as each struggles against the other only to give in. Cynther and I turn around to look at the forest and are confronted by a gigantic pine covered in ice. The minidragons spend the rest of the day nestled together in a nook of the tree.
Cerise and Brilliance
Cerise swoops through the clouds, playfully eyeing Brilliance as he speeds along behind her. He is slowly gaining ground, but Cerise still has some tricks to pull before shell be caught by a yellow or any male for that matter, no matter how sweet he may be.
Cerise enters another cloud and waits a couple of seconds before folding her wings and plummeting towards the earth. Brilliance has to think fast to get back to ground he has just lost. Using his strong telekinetic abilities, he slows Cerises fall so that hopefully he can catch up to her. She senses what he is doing and breaks the telekinetic bond.
Cerise then zips out over the water to pull another of her tricks. She dives under the water as Brilliance approaches. He stops and hovers above the water. Cerise bursts out of the water straight at him. Brilliance falters in his flight for a second and then hurls himself after her with all his might.
Cerise turns around to look where he is but sees no yellow dragon below. Startled, she turns back around to be met by two gleaming eyes that belong to none other than Brilliance.
He enfolds her in his wings and as their bond to one another is formed, the fly down to the sands of the beach to enjoy the first day of their lives together as eternal mates.
