Chapter six: Second Chance

"Mom?" Jordan whispered. She was sitting beside her mother's bed, holding her hand. Evylyn was still comatose. "Please wake up, you can't leave us like this, I have no one." She whispered, while squeezing her mother's hand. "Please wake up..." She watched the E.K.G. monitor, slowly peaking and falling. the life support was breathing for her mother. Jordan watched as the bellows slowly went up, then down again. She got an eerie feeling, she knew her mother was going to die. "Don't do this God, not when I need her now." An orderlie came in to check on Evylyn. "Sorry hon, but visiting time is up." The short stalky woman said, flashing her a sympathetic smile. Jordan nodded, she couldn't argue with her.

I'm slowly drifting into darkness the pain is overtaking me, more or less is this how it's supposed to be? I can't live life depending on destiny. it hasn't done a thing for me

Feeling so alone no longer feeling at home take it all away from me just don't kill away my family

it's all I have.....

Jordan closed her notebook, she didn't want to write any more. Writing poetry only made her feelings more intense. Putting her feelings into words did that to her, and it hurt to much to read over them again. She was sitting in her bed, staring at the glow-in-the-dark stickers on her cieling. The red digital numbers on her alarm clock read 1:30 am. She couldn't sleep, no matter how hard she tried. A slight tapping filled the room, Jordan froze with fear. She tip toed to her window and looked out. There was a long shadow cast across her yard. The person must've seen her because they stepped into the light to reveal themself. It was Taylor. She sighed. She crossed her bedroom to put on some Jeans and a tee-shirt. what is he doing here? she thought, "Oh well I'd better see what he wants." Jordan opened her window and propped it open with an old encyclopedia, so she could get back in. She crawled out and wrapped her hands around a large limb on the Oak tree outside her window. She climbed down slowly and hopped safely to the wet grass below. "Why are you here so late?" she whispered, a little too harshly. "I needed to see you." he whispered, equally as harsh. He was a little frustrated at her for treating him the way she was. Especially since he woke up and walked all the way over to her house. But he quickly scolded himself for having such selfish thoughts, she was going through a lot and he needed to unsderstand that. She smiled at the dreamy absent-minded look on his face. Taylor laughed, and slipped his hand in hers, fingers intwined. "I have something for you." He reached into his pocket and pulled out a tape, he handed it to her. "What's this?" She asked, confused. "Just wait to listen too, it....you'll understand." He smiled. The two of them wandered around the dark neighborhood until about four o'clock, mostly in silence. When Taylor walked Jordan back to her house, her wrist-watch read 4:00 am. "Bye Jordan." he said, kissing her sweetly. "Bye Taylor." She crawled back up the tree. Taylor waited next to it's trunk to see she made it safely. "Goodnight, Romeo." She giggled. "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Taylor extened his arm to full length, for emphasis. Jordan slid the window shut and fumbled in the dark for her stereo. She wanted to listen to the tape. There was a note inside, she read it.

Jordan, this is a compilation tape of songs I have written for you, as well as a few others. These are as close to my feelings for you as words can say. Enjoy.....I love you.

She gasped. He loves me? She whispered. She folded the paper neatly and put it back in the tape case, and proceeded to listen to the tape.....
