Brittany's Hanson Concert Review - Red Rocks Amphitheater - Denver, Colorado - July 18, 1998 (it’s more of a story and a review!)

The Wednesday before the concert is when we finally decided to go to the concert and I ordered my tickets and the closest seats I could get were on row 31, but since I really wanted to go, I took them. Early Thursday morning, my dad and I left town and drove all day and finally got to Denver late that night since it was an 800 mile drive. The next day, which was Friday as well as the day before the concert, we drove out to Red Rocks and met a park ranger inside the amphitheater. He told us that the first 25 rows were general admission and that the tickets we had on row 31 were actually reserved. He told some friends of mine that they could sit anywhere they wanted since they had general admission tickets. Later, he also told us that we could sit anywhere we wanted and he also showed us how to get in before everyone else did. So, that night I decided I wanted to make banners for the concert and I stayed up almost all night working on them. The next day we got to Red Rocks about 1 PM. We had to pick our tickets up supposedly at 4 PM, but we got them about 1:45. My friend Lindsey and I hiked up to the amphitheater (about a 1 mile hike) because our parents had to wait in line for the gates to open so they could park our cars. While my friend and I were gone, Hanson’s tour bus drove right by and my dad got pictures of it! Lindsey and I heard Hanson doing a soundcheck, so we ran up a mountain to try to get there and we fell off. After that, we felt as if we were almost dead, so we tried to climb back up and finally we made it. They stopped the soundcheck, so we went and waited in line (we joined the thousands) to get in. We waited for about 2 hours, which happens to be a long time when it’s 100 degrees and you’re bleeding everywhere. About 4:30, they let us in the amphitheater and people were scrambling everywhere. People were pushing and shoving everyone and I’m sure someone got trampled because I was surprised I wasn’t trampled. We were going to sit way to the left of the stage at the very end of row 3, but my dad found some seats right in the middle of row 4, which were a lot better seats, so we ended up sitting there. Then I went to the merchandise stand where I waited for about 30 minutes because there were hundreds of people waiting there, so when I finally got there, I spent $97 on merchandise (shirt, necklace, keychain, program, sticker set, and 2 pins, and I bought more stuff later). Hanson was doing a photo session at the top of the amphitheater, so I went up and watched, but only saw Zac (he looked great!!!) and tons of screaming girls. Then on my long journey back through the tightest security I’ve ever seen in my life, I saw Hanson’s tour bus. Through the windows, you could see Diana carrying Zoe around. Then I went back to my seat and waited for the concert to start. Finally, about 7:30, a Jamaican/Carribean band opened for Admiral Twin. They were really awesome and I wish I knew the name of the band because they said that they had a CD out. There were 8 of them and they were all wearing bright colored clothes. About 45 minutes later, Admiral Twin came out and they rocked! There were 4 of them and they were all dressed in black suits with pastel colored shirts underneath. They played 5 songs and announced that Hanson would be coming out in 20-25 minutes, and then left. At last, the moment everyone had been waiting for! About 8:45, Hanson came on and Isaac’s guitar part at the beginning of "Gimme Some Lovin’" was incredible! The screaming was so loud and more than half the crowd had banners and signs (including me!). (Hanson’s clothes: Zac: tight red leather pants & tight black long-sleeved shirt, Taylor: tight black pants & and white short-sleeved shirt under a limish green buttoned shirt, Isaac: brown/black pants with a white short-sleeved shirt under a long-sleeved green shirt, then he took off that shirt and put on an unbuttoned shiny red short-sleeved shirt) Then they sang "Shake Your Tailfeather" and some Middle of Nowhere songs (they sang all MON songs except for "Yearbook" and "Lucy"). After that, Zac moved his drums up to the front of the stage and Ike sat in a chair with his guitar in his lap and Taylor sat down behind his keyboard. Then they sang "Stories", "Soldier", and "With You In Your Dreams". They went backstage and came back out with their instruments back in their typical positions. They played a bunch of songs such as: "Summertime Blues" (Isaac used a really deep voice that was so funny!), "Money (That’s What I Want)" (Zac sang lead), "MMMBop", "Speechless" (Isaac slid across the stage on his knees while playing guitar and it was so cool!), "I Will Come to You", "A Minute Without You", "Madeline", "Man from Milwaukee" (Zac had glow-in-the-dark drumsticks), "River", "More Than Anything" (Boomerang song) (Taylor and Zac went backstage and Ike sat down at Taylor’s keyboard and did a keyboard and vocal solo), and "Ever Lonely" (dedicated to their friend Ashley Greyson". They had also made up an awesome song that introduced their backup players (Scott Hogan-Bass, Jason Taylor-2nd guitar, and Matt Rhode-2nd keyboards). Isaac played guitar and introduced the backup players, Taylor played keyboards and then took over Zac’s drums while Zac had lots of fun soaking the crowd (me included!) with water guns. Finally at the end of the concert, Hanson left and everyone was yelling "ENCORE! ENCORE!" and finally Taylor said, "We’re not gone yet!" and they came back out again and played some songs that I’ve already listed. After those songs, they came together at the front of the stage and they said "We’d like to thank you guys for coming out tonight, but we’d like to give you something before we all go." The gift they gave couldn’t have been better, they sang "Weird" acapella and it was awesome. They then held hands and bowed 3 times and left. It took forever for us to get out of the parking lot, and it was after 1 AM when we got back to our motel. As we were leaving the concert, Hanson’s limo drove right by our car, but we couldn’t get pictures of it. We headed back home on Tuesday and got home really late. I had the time and summer of my life with my favorite band!

Cassie's Hanson Concert Review-

September 4, 1997-New York City-1997 MTV Video Music Awards: ok, me and my brothers girlfriend steph went 2 nyc to see hanson at the mtv video music awards, but, when we went there, 8 hours away there and back, we skipped school w/ parents permission, we got lost for about an hour going and an hour leaving, then about three months later we found out they weren't even there nor were they even in the U.S., oh well, there was always our next hanson experience!!

November 21, 1997-Pittsburgh-B94 Appearence: ok, once again me and steph went 2 see hanson, but this time we took my friend amanda, we skipped school again, w/ parents permission, except amanda, her parents still don't know. anyway, we got up at 5:00a.m. and steph picked me up then we went and picked up amanda, then it was "B94 bound". after sitting through traffic for about an hour all together, taking the wrong incline up the mountain and having 2 walk about 4 miles, seriously, we finally made it, we had no clue where B94 was on the mountain so we just followed the screams. we finally made it, they had already entered. we were in the back of the crowd which wasn't 2 far away, we could've gotten closer but i'm claustophobic. after they sang "MMMBop" and "Madeline", they came out on the balcony, i got a picture of them waving in our direction, not saying it was 2 us, but in our general direction, the picture makes it look like they r waving at us though, but who really knows right?? anyway, we heard they were about 2 leave that they were signed autographs right in front of the window where we were standing, we had moved up. then they finally came out and i could've have touched them, i mean i was about a foot or two away but instead i helped them from getting killed by the nice little stampede of people who were running at them behind me, i almost go killed for them, kidding of course, i just helped hold back a lot of girls and saved one girl from getting trampled, oh well, i'm not bragging, just stating a fact, then i pounded on their van, then they left and so did we!! Oh yeah, one more thing...when admiral twin was playing.....the rhythm guitarist's guitar and back-up guitar both broke a string!! they had 2 delay their concert for about 5 min. until they were fixed!! then on hanson's concert!! isaac broke a string on his acoustic guitar........and then when taylor went 2 play weird......he played the first three or four beginning notes.....then paused........then moved up an octive....then tried again.......then looked at isaac, then said "well......i lost a key" and then they went on 2 play sometimes!! TAYLOR LOST A KEY ON HIS KEYBOARD.......THEY NEVER FIXED IT SO HE NEVER PLAYED WEIRD!! then when zac was drumming w/ his glowing sticks......a piece of the top of the one in the right hand flew off and almost hit ike!! they had a lot of musical instrument bad luck at the pittsburgh concert!!

February 25, 1998-New York City-1998 Grammy Awards: ok, this time we knew that they were there, we made sure!! me and steph once again got up at 5:00a.m. and left for NYC by 6, we were on our 8 hour journey!! well, we got there and took the scary subway (don't ever take it, it scares the crap out of me), anyway, we finally arrived at the Radio City Music Hall, i got pictures of the front, we joined a crowd of fans of different people who had formed on the side of the hall. we eventually got pushed by about 30 cops (they scare me) i got a gun jammed into me and my arm bent back by one of the cops, they only moved us because some of the people had tried to push down the barricade, (dumb people, geez), so then we walked around the building and waited there, while we were standing there this record exec.'s secretary comes up to some lady beside us and starts talking to here. then she tells us, she was really nice, that hanson had gone in at about 3:30, we got there at about 3:45, excuse me but DAMMIT, MISSED THEM AGAIN, sorry after all of these trips i wanted to see them even from a distance, although B94 was pretty cool except for almost being killed in the process!! anyway, so we told her about our band, Liquid Blue, and she gave us her personal desk address and personal desk phone #, and told us to send her a demo of our band and she would put in good word for us, then we left!! we were standing right infront of Atlantic Records building, it was so cool!!

July 8, 1998-Tulsa, Oklahoma-Tulsa "Albertane Tour" Comcert: finally i get to see them, but steph wasn't with me this time, surprising huh?? ok, my friend had gotten us tickets and they were pretty bad seats but hey, atleast i could here them right?? wrong, it wasn't very good, so i got up and walked around the Mabee Center with my boyfriend for awhile, because our seats were so far away that we could barely hear because of all of the screaming, hey, it WAS the best time to get some merchandise, i got a pin and a pack of stickers, that's all the money i had!! well, it was great, WHAT I COULD HEAR, and it was just great even just seeing them!!

August 27, 1998-Pittsburgh, PA-Pittsburgh "Albertane Tour" Concert: ok, finally better seats, i got my tickets five days before they go on sale, my mom gets tickets for the civic arena for free sometimes, but these weren't free, hey they weren't front row seats but they were box seats, we had a table, cup holders, a phone and two tv's (they didn't work, their only for things broadcasted live on tv, like the hockey games they have there), anyway so we saw the concert and it was great, i finally got my chance to HEAR them and see them. the same thing happened at this concert that happened at the red rocks concert that's already on u'r page, sorry, i have to go, i don't have time to explain details but a guy from "Admiral Twin" i think it was Mark Carr, did open our dip for us, and i got his autograph!! i actually got it at the tulsa concert but hey, he opened our dip *LOL* *LOL* *laughing and saying* he opened our dip, how great!!

Becky's Concert Review-

I went to the concert in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. When i first got there (which was 4 hours before concert) people were everywhere. I met a few friends and of course we tried to get in early. But of course we didn't. then we went to the back of the Marcus Amp. (where the concert was held) and they pulled up in their tour bus and waving out the window!!!! ahhh!!!! they were soooo close. then after we found our seats, we waited with lots and lots of exciment!!! Admiral Twin came out and they were grrreat!!! When they announced that they were gonna play their last song, every one cheered. Because of course that meant ......HANSON. I felt so bad for Admiral Twin because everyone cheered for their LAST song. As they left, a curtain dropped and we waited for them to set up. Everytime the wind blew the curtain, everyone would SCREAM, because they thought the curtain was lifting. Through long waiting (which wasn't really that long, but when you're waiting for hanson it seemed to take FOREVER.) All of a sudden u could hear the begging of "gimmee some lovin" the crowd went wild (including me) and the curtain lifted. And there stood HANSON!!! The concert was great!!!! They played really good and they know how to get a crwod going and moving up on their feet!! After the concert me and my friends went behind where we saw the tour bus come in!! They came out after some waiting, and Ike had his IkeCam!!!! We got on tape!!! Hopefully!! when they drove by and they came to the front of the bus, the light went on and their they were....4ft away!!!!!! and i have a picture!!!!! it was a GREAT concert!!!!!!!!!!
