Scream 2 sparked a feeding frenzy among Hollywood agents, all of whom were itching to get their rising stars the same hip exposure the
youthful teens garnered in the first Scream.
One of those who had to pass on the first Scream but jumped at the chance to play opposite his son in the sequel was Lewis Arquette. Like his
son, David Arquette, Lewis has taken the role of a police officer but at a higher rank as Chief Hartley.
Kevin Williamson's Scream 2 script has been top-secret. The scripts were burgundy with a black line through them. Neve
Campbell explains. "You can't even read them really." Jerry O'Connell described the script as "James Bondish paper you can't
Xerox." The cast members signed waivers holding them liable if they leaked sensitive information to the media. The last ten pages
of the script - printed on copyproof, faxproof, scanproof paper - weren't given to the cast until the final two days of
filming!
Plot Points
Jada Pinkett's character, Sharon Masters, will be in the opening scene and will do the same thing Drew Barrymore did in the first film get killed.
In the script's plotline, Gale Weathers' best-seller, which was based on the events in Woodsboro, is made into a movie called Stab and is
directed by
Robert Rodriquez and starring Tori Spelling as Sidney Prescott.(remember Sidney's little saying in Scream? "My Luck They'd Cast Tori Spelling" THEY DID!)
The sequel has a higher body count.
The phrase "sequels suck" is heard eight times throughout the film.
Gale Weathers is famous after her book-turned-movie Stab. She also has a new assistant/cameraman named Joel.
who doesn't really like his job investigating bloody murders. So I guess he will never think of police work.
Dewey Riley leaves Woodsboro and shows up to protect Sidney again, while trying to
warm the cold shoulder he's getting from his Gale Weathers.
Rumors
Four central characters will survive in Scream 2. The main players are Sidney, Gale, Dewey, Randy and Cotton.
One of them will die, but who?
There is a rumor that Rose McGowan, who played the garage-killed girl, Tatum Riley in the first Scream, will make a cameo in Scream 2
wearing
baggy clothes during a sequence in which Sidney is in the library.
Rumor has it that Scream 2 screenwriter Kevin Williamson will make a cameo as a talk show host who interviews Cotton Weary.
Official Words
Wes Craven has confirmed that Matthew Lillard and Skeet Ulrich will NOT appear in Scream 2.
It has been confirmed that Scream 2 will have an R rating - not an NC-17.
The Scream 2 script that has been circulating around the web has turned out to be an early draft. Wes Craven confirms that there have
been major changes done to the script including character development, key scenes and especially the ending.
