T.E.A.R.S. has provided jobs for
young adults,
particularly for high-risk youths, gang
members and
taggers. We know the most stressful thing
that can happen
to any young adults is to be unemployed and
for jobs to be
so hard to find. The young people develop low
self esteem,
they feel they have no way to vent their
frustrations other
than gang banging or writing on community
walls, buildings
and private property.
T.E.A.R.S. has created a program
that has a
great impact on high-risk youths, taggers and
gangs, it is
called "FunPark", Not Just For The Fun Of
It. It allows
these young people to work as salespeople,
sales clerks
supervisors, promoters, and entrepreneurs, as
well as
participate in the entertainment industry.
Young taggers
has already learned how to put their giffetti
writing
designs on 'T' shirts, caps, shoes, posters,
and other
merchadises, a percentage of their sales goes
to a
non-profit organization of their choice. This
allows them
to learn how to become businessmen or
businesswomen, as
well as how to operate their business and
help the
community by supporting needed
organizations. In order
for these young taggers to channel their
energies "off the
walls and into merchadise", we must give them
the chance,
by providing opportunity and experience. In
order for gang
members to stop selling drugs in the
community we must
promote positive products and skills to sell
them. Gang
members will learn how to channel their
energies into
becoming respectable human
begins.
