Last day of Bambi hunting....

I took Jerry's digital camera out on the deer stand with me on afternoon of the last day of hunting (2002 MN Rifle Season). I actually just planed to take some pictures of the landscape... This little doe came along minutes after I got on the stand. I was sure I'd only get one picture, maybe two before she would get spooked and run off... She was in sight for about 40 minutes. I ended up taking about 50 pictures, only stopped because I ran out of storage on the camera...

Coming onto the scene...

Just looking around...

Hmmmmmm....

This one is interesting in that: Macabre as it seems, she is standing on the trail where three of her species (2 the day before & one that very morning) were dragged after being shot. If you look, you can see that the leaves on the trail are stained with blood. I would have thought that the scent of fresh deer blood and humans would have scared her off... Instead, she seemed interested in the trail, and actually licked the blood off some leaves... Hmmmmmm.....
