An innocent man is murdered in a gambling den. Clutched in his hand is the winning card, a Jack of Spades. As the falls from the mans fingers to the floor a strange phenomenon occurs: slowly a figure rises from the card and comes to life. "You have not lost your life in vain! Your last breath became my first breath!" So spoke the first words of the Jack of Spades! "Because of this miracle, I dedicate my life aiding the downtrodden, the weak and the innocent until I rid the world of crime!" The Jack of Spades "returns to his paper form,
where he may always be found in any deck of cards awaiting the call of
mystery and adventure in his battle against the forces of evil." The Jack
of Spades is incredibly strong, can fly, possesses the ability to survive
most harm, and he has a very stretchable cloak. The Jack of Spades only
had two adventures and was never heard from again. This character battled
the Hawkmen in his only outing. |

Tops Comics # 2001
Only Appearance: 06/44 |
Tops Comics was an anomolous
32 page title with no price on the cover and two-tone red and white interior;
not exactly normal for the time and evidently not designed to be placed
on the standard spinner racks. Of these, 28 pages are Jack of Spades stories;
the rest are one page "gag" or humor strips ... and mostly "adult" humor
at that, aimed at the military, which leads one to speculate that this
book was done soley for the US Gov. and the boys in the service in some
fashion.
