"AJ! QUIT IT!!" I yelled, irritated, at a laughing AJ. It was a whole day later, and everyone was over at Nick's house just goofing off. Well... everyone except Brian. "I can't help it! You are just too much fun to irritate!" AJ answered me, smiling. I shot him a dirty look. I was nervous to see Brian. I knew he would probably show up some time today, so I drove over to BJ's house to wait for him. I didn't know what I was going to say to him, or what I was going to do when I saw him, so I was immensely stressed out. "Corinne? Are you ok?" AJ asked me. "NO, AJ. I'm pissed off!" I yelled at him. The only response he made was that low raspy laugh he's famous for. "What? At moi?!" he asked innocently. I gave him an angry look. "Hmm... sounds to me like you need to cool off..." he said with a thoughtful expression, as he stroked his chin. He let an evil smirk light his face, and before I knew it he had picked me up, and was leading me to the backyard. "AJ! What are you DOING?! Put me down!" I screamed at him. "No... we need to do something about your attitude, little missy!" he snickered. "Ah-ha! Look what we have here!" he said bringing me to the edge of the pool. I let my eyes widen as I gasped. "AJ! DON'T YOU DARE!!" I yelled, clutching his shirt. He laughed, "Awe, but why Corinne? doesn't the pool look nice?!" he taunted me, swinging me over the pool. "Ok," I said calmly, "I swear AJ, if you throw me in there, you're going in with me! I don't go down without a fight! So, what's it gonna be?!" I threatened. "OK... Pool: bad idea!!" he said, as he led me away from the pool. We both started laughing as he decided to fling me onto Nick's giant trampoline instead. He got on it, and every time I tired to get off, he'd jump around until I fell flat on my butt again! "Quit irritating Corinne, you giant dweeb!" BJ yelled, walking into the backyard. "Hey! I resent that remark!" AJ cried. "You mean you resemble that remark!" BJ joked back. I rolled off the trampoline laughing. "Thank's BJ. Is Brian here yet?" I asked. She shook her head at me. "Nope." "Why are you so eager to see Brian?" AJ asked me, hopping down off the trampoline. "No reason. It's not important," I said, ignoring the subject and walking inside. AJ gave BJ a perplexed look. "She kinda likes Rok," BJ told him. AJ let his mouth drop in shock. "No way!" he said. "Yeah... but don't let her know I told you so! If you do, I'll hunt you down!" BJ answered him. AJ just put on his cute little 5 year old smile, scrunching his eyes and nose and showing his teeth. BJ rolled her eyes and walked inside. "Dang... I thought that girl liked me. Shoot. Ah well... Rok's taken anyway," AJ whispered to himself. Feeling guilty at his comment, he banished the thought from his mind and returned indoors to see what trouble he could stir up. "So, how ya doing Corinne?" BJ asked me, walking into the room. I had gone up to her room and was lying on her bed staring at the ceiling. "I'm Fine, BJ. How are you doing?" I asked back. "You're just a little nervous about Brian, huh?" BJ said. I rolled my head over so I could see her face. I smiled and said, "Oh YEAH!" We both laughed a little bit, talking about stupid little things, (Basically regular girl talk!!) and having as much fun as we could, considering the circumstances. "So, you really like him a lot, don't you?" BJ asked me once more. I sighed out with a small smile. "Yeah... I do. I can't help it BJ. It's just one of those things. Remember when I was younger and I swore that one day I was going to marry JTT??" I asked with a big grin. BJ threw her head back laughing hysterically. "YES!! I remember that!! You had it BAD girl!" she said amidst her laughter. I snickered. "Well, it's kinda like that. I know it's practically impossible for us to be together, but I don't let circumstances cloud my reasoning. If I think that boy's gonna marry me, he's gonna marry me!!" I said, laughing again. "I can always dream, right?" BJ smiled at me, and a split second later the doorbell rang. I shot up from the bed and listened as Nick answered the door. "BRIAN! WAS'SUP?" he shouted. I smiled widely and turned to BJ. "Go for it girl! I'll be down in a second!" she said. I took a deep breath, and walked down the stairs. I got to the first level, and noticed that Sarah was with Brian. I let my smile fade and stayed back until I knew what was going on. Nick was standing at the foot of the stairs, so he looked up at me with a nauseous look. I smiled, and listened as Brian spoke. "I'm glad you all are here," he started, sounding *very* unenthusiastic. "We kinda have something to tell you all, ahem." I furled my brow as Brian beat around the bush. "I guess what I'm trying to say is... um..." he said, with a cough. "We're getting married!!" Sarah exclaimed, not able to contain it any longer. The guys all shouted a mingled mess of words as she proudly displayed her ring. My heart about jumped 10 feet in my throat, as I tried to choke down my tears. The words hadn't registered. What did he say?? Did he say he was getting married?! I held my head in my hand as I thought. Then, not being able to take the pain or shock any longer, I pushed myself past Nick and out the front door. Brian didn't even notice, but Nick looked after me as I ran down the street. AJ had heard the door and looked up from Sarah to see me for a split-second as I flew outside. "Oh no," he moaned to himself, swallowing. He sighed out and looked down, distraught over the whole situation. "Someone just got hurt... badly." |
