"This should
be amusing!" I laughed to myself. I was in my room
packing my bags. Brian and the rest of the guys had
left for New York about a week ago, and at the moment
they were on MTV doing something called "Backstreet Boys
Live." Carson Daily was the host, and was asking the
majority of the questions.
I laughed to myself as Brian answered Carson's questions humorously, as usual. Carson was asking question's addressed to each of the guys, just to see how well they knew each other... and they were failing miserably! "Nick, has Kevin ever gone skinny dipping?!" Carson asked. The audience roared with screams and laughter as Nick arched his eyebrows at Kevin. "Carson! How dare you, you bum!" I shouted at the TV, shocked. I threw my head back laughing as Nick attempted an answer, and Kevin avoided everyone, including the camera, by looking around the room, smiling guiltily. "I think it's a yes!" Nick answered, after much debate, laughing. He was right! "Ok Brian... you and I are gonna have to talk about your cousin when I get back there," I said shaking my head. Kevin explained his skinny dipping experience when he was twelve, and I just laughed along. Suddenly, there was a knock at my door. "Come in!" I shouted. The door opened and BJ came wandering in. "Well hello there, stranger!" I said. "It's been a while since I've seen you!" "Yeah, well you don't seem to have much time for me anymore, what with you packing and all," she said, pouting her lip. "Oh BJ... don't pout! You look sad enough already!" I said giggling. She had a black eye from the day she went chasing Sarah. When she caught up with her, Nick was too late in breaking it up before Sarah gave her that black eye, and she, in return, gave Sarah a broken jaw. Don't say that Tae Boa classes never come in handy; 'cause BJ definitely perfected her uppercut. "Ha, ha!" BJ laughed mockingly. Rubbing her eye, she said, "It'll go away soon enough. As will you! When are you leaving again?" "The 22nd at 1pm. Ahh, I'm really nervous!" I said, folding clothes and stuffing them in my suitcase. "Why? You're going to be with the guys... you'll be fine!" BJ tried to comfort me, as she jumped onto my bed. "Yes, but I'll also be around people I don't know, and I'm going to a completely different part of the world! Which reminds me... where's my passport?" I said, looking around the room. "Ah, is that it that you're lying on top of?" BJ rolled over to reveal my passport and a few newly wrinkled clothes. "Um... sorry 'bout that!" BJ said, giggling. I just arched my eyebrow at her. I'd gotten used to her by now. "So, you're not going to miss graduation day then?" BJ asked. "Nope. I'm just going to make it. You're going to be there when I get my diploma, right?" I asked her. BJ wouldn't be graduating for another year. "Yeah! Definitely! I wouldn't miss it for the world," she said with a sly smile. "What?" I asked. "What was that smile for?" "Nothing! What, I can't smile around you anymore?" she defended herself. I looked at her suspiciously, but let it slide. I was too wound up about the trip I was about to make. "Hey!" BJ exclaimed. "There's the guys now!" she said motioning towards the television. "Yeah, I know... I've been watching them for about an hour now," I smiled. BJ looked at me and grinned. She could tell by the glint in my eyes that my thoughts were of Brian. "I can't believe that you're going to be in Europe in just a few days," BJ said. "I'm going to miss you so much! You're going to write to me, right?" she added, giving me a coaxing grin. "Of course I will! I'll be missing you too much to forget!" I said. BJ smiled at me. I thought about how much I was going to miss her and my family. "But it's only for the summer," I thought to myself. Plus, to be with Brian, it was worth it. Just thinking about his sweet endearing smile made all my fears fade away. BJ started laughing hysterically, and I lifted my eyes to the television to catch Brian making funny faces while Kevin spoke. I smiled to myself. "Crazy!" I thought. "But he's mine, crazy and all!" It was graduation day. I was more nervous than I'd ever been before; not including that one day with Brian. I watched as my friends went up and excepted their diplomas one by one. I smiled as Jack and Timothy got up to except their diploma. "I can't believe they graduated!" I laughed to myself. I looked behind me to catch my family smiling from the audience. "Corinne Matthews!" I heard over the loudspeaker. My heart seemed to stop as I took a deep breath and got up. I walked up to the podium with the clapping of my friends and classmates cheering me on. I could hear BJ screaming as I accepted my diploma. I was all smiles as I thanked the Dean of Students and began my decent offstage. After the clapping died down, I heard someone shout my name. I looked out into the crowd and noticed in the very back behind the audience a familiar face. My heart raced as I jumped off the stage. "Brian!" I exclaimed as I picked up my gown and held on to my cap as I ran. BJ smiled... it was hard keeping this surprise from me all week. Brian's smile was bright and his eyes shone with a certain air of happiness. I ran and hugged him at full speed, almost knocking him over. He laughed as we stumbled in each other's arms. "What are you doing here?!" I asked him, looking into his bright eyes. "Well, I had a day off, and I called BJ and asked what time the graduation was... I had to see this!" he said, moving my tassel over to the other side of my cap. "Oh my God... I am so proud of you!" he said wrapping his arms back around me once more. I clung to his arms. "I could scream right now, I swear!" I said overjoyed. "I'm going to scream right now!" Brian exclaimed as he tipped us from side to side. I laughed as he sang, "You graduated... yeah you... grad-u-aaa-ted!" and then laughed at himself. "I figured I'd spend the day with you, and then tomorrow we'd fly to New York together," he explained. "This is the best surprise anyone has ever given me! Thank you so much!" I said. Brian kissed me briefly and then hugged me again. I could hear BJ and some of my other friends cooing and catcalling me from the audience. I just ignored them. "You are so beautiful," Brian whispered in my ear. I smiled and closed me eyes as he hugged me. This was unbelievable, and I wanted to cherish every minuet. |
