Every Time I Close My Eyes - Chapter 9

Chapter 9

I opened my eyes and looked around me a bit confused. On the stand next to my bed was a picture of Brian and Kevin, and the memories of yesterday all started coming back to me. I sat up in the bed and looked around the room. The window was open and a light breeze was blowing Brian's cloth curtains around. The daylight sun was shining inside the room, making everything seem to glow. Brian had the room painted in a soft pale blue, and decorated with beautiful wood and wrought-iron furniture. The bed was a big canopy bed, with white, hanging cloths, draping to the floor. There were pictures and different knickknacks lining the room that gave it a perfect charm. I smiled at how wonderful everything was. I slipped out of bed, and quietly made my way down the hall to Brian's room. The door was cracked open, and I slightly pushed it further so I could peek my head in. Brian was still asleep, with his face turned just slightly away. I smiled at how adorable he looked. "Yeah, he's cute when he's asleep!" I giggled to myself. Tyke was curled up into a ball at his feet. When he noticed me, his head shot up and he began panting excitedly. I brought my fingers to my lips and hushed him, to which he closed his mouth, and cocked his head to the side. I smiled at him, and with one more quick glance at Brian, quietly began walking down the hall to the staircase.

Once I reached the stairs I noticed that I was now accompanied by Tyke. He trotted down the stairs with me to the kitchen; I decided I'd make breakfast while Brian slept. "So Tyke... what do you say we surprise Brian with breakfast this morning?" I whispered. Tyke barked excitedly. I laughed at how adorable he was... I couldn't believe it! Stop the cuteness! (lol) I got out ingredients from the fridge, and began making my specialty... cheese omelets!

Brian slowly began opening his eyes. He looked around the room, and took in a deep breath. He smiled gently, still halfway asleep. "What is she up to?" he whispered to himself, smiling. He rolled over, and got out of bed, stretching. He quickly got changed into some clothes and brushed his teeth before walking down the stairs. When he was finally ready, he quietly made his way to the kitchen.

"Ahh! What are you doing?!" I yelled, laughing at Tyke. Brian stopped before walking in the room, just to listen for a bit. I laughed at Tyke while he jumped around, eating scraps of cheese. Brian snickered with a big grin on his face while he listened. "You crazy dog!" I continued. "You must take after your daddy!" I picked Tyke up and he licked my face. Laughing I said, "Yep... you definitely take after your daddy!"

"Really? Why is that?" Brian said, pushing the door open. I looked over at him a bit surprised.

"Oh, nothing... no reason," I answered, blushing. Brian smiled at me as he walked in.

He came up and wrapped his arms around me. "Did you sleep well?" he asked. I smiled and nodded my head.

"Your guestroom is absolutely wonderful. I couldn't believe how comfortable the bed was!" I answered him.

"I'm glad," Brian said. He took in another deep breath and exclaimed, "Man, something smells good! What have you been doing?"

"Well, I decided I'd go ahead and cook breakfast since you were asleep. You do like cheese, right?" Brian arched his eyebrows as if to say, "duh!" I laughed gently, "I take that as a yes!"

Brian smiled at me. "It smells wonderful. I wish I could have made breakfast for you, though!" he exclaimed.

"Next time. This time, it was all my pleasure," I answered him, getting the rest of breakfast ready and placing it on plates. Brian and I ate breakfast together (which he raved about!), talking and enjoying the space we were sharing for the first time. The phone rang, and Brian got up to answer it.

"Hello? Hey! What's up?" Brian exclaimed, smiling. "Yeah... uh-huh... Okay, hold on just a sec!" Brian handed the phone to me. "It's BJ... she tracked you down!" he said, grinning. I laughed and took the phone.

"Hello?" I said. "Hey! It's BJ!" BJ exclaimed. "Hey Beeg, how did you know I was at Brian's?" I asked, excited. "Oh please!" BJ exclaimed, "Nick only calls all the time!! That boy has a problem with homesickness!" I chuckled at BJ as she started to ramble. "Anyway, since you're here for a couple days, I was wondering if you and Brian wanted to come over and do something," BJ said. I looked up at Brian and mouthed the words, "Can I go over to BJ's pleeeease?" with a puppy-dog face. He smiled and nodded, and I told BJ we'd love to come over. "Great! Awe, I've missed you soooo much! So I'll see you soon?" BJ asked. "Yep!" I answered excitedly. I heard BJ shouting on the other end, "woo-hoooo!" and began laughing. We said our goodbyes and hung up.

"Thank you so much!" I said, hugging Brian.

"Please don't mention it! I love BJ, and I wanted to spend time with her before we left anyway. She... she's like a sister to me!" Brian said, pretending to cry. I laughed at his expressions as he wiped away fake tears. As soon as the breakfast plates were washed, I about dragged him out the door.

"Corinne... if you keep bouncing up and down you're going to hit your head..." Brian said trying to be serious, on the way to BJ's.

I laughed at him. "I'm not THAT wound up!" I exclaimed. "I can't help it if I'm excited... don't you get this way when you go home to visit your family and friends?"

Brian smiled slyly. "It depends on whether Harold is there or not..." he said. I laughed at him as he chuckled slightly. Moments later we arrived at BJ's house, and walked up to the door. We barley knocked before BJ swung the door open, and exclaiming, "BRIIIIAN!! CORINNNNNE!!" wrapped her arms around me in a bear-hug. I laughed at her as she did the same to Brian.

"GOD BJ, any tighter and you might have broken something!!" I announced. She laughed and invited us in.

"I can't help it! I missed you SO MUCH!!" she said, practically giddy.

"BJ!! It's only been like, a week! What are you going to do when I'm in Europe for a few months?" I asked. BJ faked choking, and fell to her back. I examined her, shaking my head; "That bad, huh?" BJ got up, laughing, and we all started to calm down and talk.

"So, what do you wanna do?" BJ asked after a while.

"I don't know, let's go out to the park or something," I suggested. BJ's eyes lit up.

"YEAH!! Let's go to the park and rollerblade around!" she said. I agreed, since it had been forever since I've rollerbladed.

"Uh... no... I don't know about that," Brian said. "Why?" I asked, "What's the matter, Bri?" Brian looked over at me and smiled. "I'm horrible at rollerblading! Please don't make me embarrass myself!" he announced. BJ and I looked at each other, and smiled slyly. "Oh no," Brian moaned.
