YO-
11-YOYO-11-YOŽ
(or simply
The YO ManŽ) was born on Saturday,
February 1, 1975, in a log cabin which
he built himself in the hills of Kansas
City, MO. Like many great Americans, The
YO ManŽ was born a baby. As he got
older, he grew taller. Even as a child,
those who knew The YO ManŽ (or The YO
BoyŽ as he was known back then) could
tell he was destined for greatness. The
YO ManŽ graduated from Olathe (KS) North
High School on Sunday, May 30, 1993.
Upon graduation, The YO ManŽ was unclear
about what sort of great things he would
do in his life. During his high school
years, The YO ManŽ had spent time at
Schnucks (a local grocery store) in the
Seafood Department and Dillons (another
local grocery store) in the Chinese
Kitchen. Two months after graduating,
The YO ManŽ felt a change of scenery was
necessary. So, he moved to the (kinda)
big city. Goodbye Olathe, KS, hello
Kansas City! The first few years back in
KC were a bit questionable. Jobs were
hard to find back in the recession of
1993. The YO ManŽ landed a position at
Wal-Mart's Hypermart*USA as a front line
cashier. After a year, he became a
layaway clerk and was promoted to
Layaway Manager 6 months later. The YO
ManŽ attended a Wal-Mart Year End
Convention at Bartle Hall in his
hometown of Kansas City, MO in August,
1995. The convention was quite a
learning experience. For an entire month
The YO ManŽ learned various marketing
techniques. However, tradgedy struck The
YO ManŽ when he contracted viral
meningitis toward the end of August,
1995. The brush with death left him
bedridden for 15 days and unable to
return to work for 2 more weeks. Upon
his return to "The Hype" in early
October, 1995, The YO ManŽ noticed all
his old managers had been replaced. One
night after closing the layaway
department, The YO ManŽ went to the
manager's office to put away his keys
and go home for the evening. Upon
entering the office, he saw two
assistant managers and 3 department
managers using cocaine. The YO ManŽ was
asked to join them but refused. He was
told that if he ever ratted them out
that he would regret it. However The YO
ManŽ did complain to the store director
and was told to mind his own business.
Two days after his conversation with the
store director, The YO Man'sŽ position
as Layaway Manager was mysteriously
eliminated and he was demoted to sales
associate in the toy department. With
the Christmas season coming up, The YO
ManŽ knew that he would have to leave
the company soon or surely lose his
mind. The YO ManŽ walked out of
Wal-Mart's Hypermart*USA forever on
December 23, 1995. For the next 7
months, The YO ManŽ worked as a contract
security officer for RJS Security. He
enjoyed the new job, but quite simply
there is no money in it. In July, 1996,
The YO ManŽ started a new career as a
security officer for Station Casino
Kansas City. After one year, standing at
turnstiles and giving directions to
guests became tiresome. In August 1997,
The YO ManŽ transferred to the table
games department. He didn't know it at
the time, but he had found his calling.
Now almost 3 years later, The YO ManŽ is
a legend at SCKC and in the gaming
world. If you're ever in Kansas City,
drop by the Station and say hello. You
never know, The YO ManŽ just might help
you leave a winner.
