The History Of Z-Force (Now Flashback)

Z-Force is a steel space diver roller coaster built by Intamin. It is the only roller coaster of its kind ever built. The roller coaster features six verticle diving corkscrew drops and 720 degree gravity defying upward spiral. Z-Force (Flashback) was originally part of the ride loan program between Six Flags' theme parks and was originally located at Six Flag's Great America and then it was located at Six Flag's Over Georgia before being moved to Los Angeles. Since 1992, Z-Force(Flashback), has been located at Magic Mountain in Southern California. Z-Force is unique in it's design. The roller coaster is approximately 100 feet tall and has a top speed of 45 mph. After the lift hill riders make a u-turn to the left and traverse along the track to the opposite end of the roller coaster. Upon reaching the other side the train then makes a quick roll-over. The designers of the roller coaster were attempting to simulate a fighter pilot making a roll into a dive and a drop. The ride makes six of these drops. At the end of the ride there is a 720 degree upward spiral and a quick run out before the break run. Z-Force (Flashback)features special trains with four across seating. The width of the train increases the roll over effect on the drops, especially on the outside seats.
