My Costume Page

Welcome dear friends! This is my section of the page dedicated to my 2nd attempt at a CATS costume! Here, I'll keep you updated with how everything is going!

A little about this costume-

Well, this is my second attempt at a CATS costume. The last one I did was on spare of the moment. It was pretty good for being so quickly asembled. However, this year I'm taking my time. This one is modled after Demeter.

How it all started out...

The unitard with it's yellow/golden base on.

After the dem costume I made a Sillabub costume for the next halloween. Here are the links for two pics. I hope to revise this one and make it a bit better.

Well now..a lot of time has passed and I have done numerous revisions to the Demeter unitard unitard. Infact, this unitard was used as my Dem costume during a local pageant where I performed Macavity. Here's a few pics of how it turned out. Below are several costume and makeup shots a while before the pageant.

This next one is me in the hallway right after doing my number. Oh, and note to everyone!! If you have to hide a body mic in a unitard, don't let anyone put it on the small of your back without any tape to keep it in place.. ;) If you do allow that mistake..you'll learn very quickly why it was a mistake when you start dancing. ;)

LOL! Me in Munkustrap make-up from a looooong time ago.

Next Project!!

Skimbleshanks! I bought an authentic Skimbleshanks unitard and pair of shoes off of eBay, so now I'd like to fix up a female Skimble costume. I will start updating soon with new pics of the process!

Lec's costuming tips

Here are a few of my tips for costume making and accessories:

Makeup- I suggest using Ben Nye makeup. They have a wonderful selection of colors, and are found at most costume stores. They don't run, and they blend very well.

Collars- okay, for my collar, I simply went out and bought a regular, black dog collar that fit me, and added diamond shapped studs that can be found in any craft section of most stores. It looked pretty authentic, however, I'm making a spiked collar for my Demeter costume. Here's one of the many ways you can go about this matter: to make the spikes, go to any normal craft or art- supply store and get a few of those little paper shading stubs. Lay out as many as you want for your collar (6 should be plenty) and spray paint them gray or silver. They come in different sizes, so you'll have a choice of what size you want. If you're making a Bombalurina or Tugger collar- you probably want a longer "spike", then if you were making a Demeter one. Then, simply hot glue 6 circles on the collar to where you want the spikes, attach the spikes, and taa daa! You're done! Wait for it to try, and you'll have yourself a great spiked CATS collar! With no risk of puncturing your neck with real spikes. ;)
