Backstage Reunion

By: Jon Bream

It was like a family reunion after last Friday's Wallflowers concert at the Orpheum. More than 40 relatives stopped backstage for nosh, photos and even autographs. Wallflowers guitarist Michael Ward grew up in north Minneapolis. Bassist Greg Richling's mother is from Minnesota. And lead singer/songwriter Jakob Dylan has an uncle, aunt, cousins and all sorts of family in his father's home state. The Wallflowers are accustomed to schmoozing with contest-winning fans after concerts. But this was something else. "There are more people here than at our usual meet-and-greets," said Dylan, Sharpie pen in hand. "And they're all relatives."
