This is Jeff's song. He sings it. All I know about the meaning of it or the lyrics is that we know do it quite ska-ish. It makes me bouncy.
This song arose out of a goofy riff that I was playing on the bass while Dusty (J.) was doing some Petty thing. I have never been a big fan of this song, maybe because I have to sing it too. The words started off being about the brick heads I was hanging around for a while, but turned into an ode to Finnegan's Wake by James Joyce a book I was reading at the point where I deceided the lyrics worked better.3.I.H.F.E.
This is a song that arose out of an interesting situation T'odd found himself in. It is partially based upon an overhead conversation, that's all that really needs to be said about it (oh and think lebanese) . J sings this one, with Jeff on backing.(I think I have deciphered the lyrics)You said you'd never let them hurt me... and I know, I know, I know
This is a goofy riff I found on the bass. I started playing it with a ton of effects on it and it became a sort of surfer song. Then we were playing around with it and doubled its pace. We then added a sax part, it quickly became a creation with a distinctly Fishbone flavor. I have to sing this one too. It bounces hard... bouncey bouncey...It's mostly a non-sensical song about two flakes that are on a beach and fall apart(?).Crash Down on a backwash beach
Jeff says this is a song about drunken obsessions. T'odd says it's dedicated to Mick Fleetwood. Jeff sings it. Hmmm....6.Kenny
This is a song that started as a riff J. had for a year or more. I put a bass line over it and it was okay. It was going alright but with no vocals so I volunteered to lend my voice to it. I often times can't talk comfortably for a couple days after singing this ditty. It is an ode to the cartoon kid from Colorado who has more than his fair share of bad luck. It's energetic...7.Pickle
J.'s song and he won't tell me what it's about. All I know about it is that it's getting thicker and more deadly everytime we play it. Soon it will be professionally sumo wrestling.. watch for it. Oh yah, the title has nothing to do with the song (I was told). The llama has corrected me, here are the new and improved "interpretations" (thanks T)
Pickle (formerly "Lonely for a Day")
Is there something that I can do for you, if it's not too much? Is there something that you need dearly, are you lookin' to touch? Would you take what you're given, if the sender was me? And do you wish you were livin', for some one you see?
CH 1: Don't take you're broken wings to someone who can't fly, Don't be afraid to be with, someone in the lonely sky. You tied you're broken strings around yourself but you can't stay. Would you be surprised to find out we're all lonely for a day.
Do you think you're hiding from someone.. do you know who it is? Would you stop feeling helpless if you had someone to kiss? All those rainy nights do you turn out the lights, and stare at the walls, And think that if you got no one, you got nothing at all?
CH 2: Don't hide behind a mask, if you're looking to be seen. Don't tear apart yourself, if you've got nothing in betwee. You go to close your eyes and find the time for someone you see. Someday soon you'll know we're all lonely for a day.
And if you need someone to hold you If you need some one I told you And if you need to be with someone Dont think you're the only one
8. Morning Star
As far as I can tell this is Jeff's song, I don't
Know anything about it except its getting rediculously fast...
9. Surley Sue (Plstn)
This is an instrumental based upon a work
by Jeff. It is heavily jazz influence, but has some odd free-form spots.
It also revives the drum solo, as well as incoporates alto sax, as played
by Jeff. It winds up with an acid jazz flavoring.
10. UnderTow
This one is another instrumental, it's
based upon a bass line by Drew. The Song develops into a lurking beast
that plays with themes of the main line. It includes a bluesy-jazzy
tenor sax solo from Jeff.
11. I'll Come Around
I can't remember this song. It's
probably about coming around though, right? Sure. Drew got to play
drums on this one once, and T'odd played on guitar and sang. I think
J. played bass. I really don't remember much else...
12. Gimme the Keys
Okay, Drew likes the Cleaver Pop Reference
so he wrote a song about another CPR. This one's got a bit of punch in the
face. I think Drew Sings.
13. Bastard's Lament
Cleaver pop reference song. J. does some groving on the bass, T'odd doesn't get
beat up, Jeff might do some effects stuff and Drew plays a little guitar on this
little ditty about being deamonized. It's a swelling clean little pop ditty, sure
to be a hit with people who don't read the lyrics.(The tripping daisy and Jane's Addiction
influences can be felt here.)
Said she thought I was a deamon,
said she knew she was not dreamin'.
Said I was a monster,
from a real-life 3-D movie.
'Glad to see you took it so well',
Guess that makes this place, here, hell.
Smile everytime I see her,
'Cause it means she's in hell, too.
She said I was the devil,
Nothing about me's on the level.
Said I was a kind of monster,
A real-life Lon Chaney Jr.
It's an easy part to be playin',
Just live up to the things she's sayin'.
So I've got my hockey mask and chainsaw,
And I'm tryin' to kiss her sister.
Do the leatherface shuffle,
On Friday the 13th of this month.
Sayin' I look like Boris Karloff,
That's your work Dr. No.
Said she thought I was a deamon,
Said she knew she was not dreamin'.
Said She thought I was a monster,
From a real-life drive-in movie.
