BIG SING UPDATE

Chorus Directors, Governors, and Chorus Contacts,

In this update, as in previous ones, I have listed the information that I have received from all choruses, and what information is still outstanding. It's much easier to do a mass mailings than address each chorus individually. So although this is a mass mailing, please take it as a personal letter. Check out your chorus and see what information you need to get to me, or what information needs updating. And please reply as promptly as possible, as our planning depends on the information we get from you.

This is being e-mailed to all contacts in my e-mail address book. I think I'm getting up-to-date on them. If you STILL are not getting these mailings, email me (carrrera@starpoint.net), and then I can add your address to the list. This is also being snail-mailed to directors and chorus contacts who are on my snail-mail list.

This information is also posted on the web at <http://angelfire.com/mn/mamc>. I have posted some information on the Update Page about starting a web page (homepage) on the internet for your chorus. If you want to read more about how to get started, go to the Update Page and click on the Chorus Homepage link.

FRIDAY NIGHT RECITAL

This is the lineup for the Friday Night Recital. It is NOT cast in stone, so if you see a need for a later time (or an earlier time), please let me know. I think I have all the requests for later times reflected here. Also, this is the order of performance of your 2 numbers - the title listed first will be sung first. If this is incorrect, let me know that too. I would like to have the selections listed in the program in the order of performance, although, if necessary, it is possible to switch the order at performance time.

I have allotted 12 minutes to each chorus. (Set your watches according to WCCO Radio - or any other radio station).) That will give the adjudicators enough time to make written comments, and spend some time working with each chorus. I think things will move along on time, but let's all be aware of the clocks. There is a 10 minute break built in from 8:17 to 8:27.

It is sometimes confusing as to when to start your performance. I will ask the adjudicators to look up and give you a signal when they are ready for the next chorus to perform. Please wait for their signal before beginning your performance. For those moving in or out of the auditorium, please note that the doors will be closed at the beginning of a performance and remained closed until the conclusion of that performance.

The adjudicator sheets and adjudicator's copies of your music will be given to you sometime on Saturday morning before lunch.

Last, check out the spellings, composers, publishers, etc, to make sure it is accurate. The deadline for getting this info to me, including the adjudicator copies, is by Friday, April 16. Feel free to get it to me earlier, though.

WORKSHOPS
There has been good interest in the workshops (that's relative to the 8:15 A.M. start time). We would like to have fairly accurate numbers as to who will be attending the workshops. The movement workshop will probably take place in the R/A facility where there will be access to the risers. Prerequisite for this workshop: You must be able to snap your fingers and chew gum at the same time. Come prepared to try out some fun things. The MIDI (electronic music) workshop will show you some amazing things that you can do with some minimal MIDI equipment. Prerequisite for this workshop: Know what a computer is. There will be a nice spread of sweet rolls, donuts, coffee, and juice to tempt you to get there. Check out your chorus - if your figures are significantly different from the information you have given me, or your information is not in, please get it to me at your earliest convenience.

SELECT CHORUS REHEARSAL
The select chorus rehearsal will start at 9:15 and go to 10:15 or earlier if it falls together quickly. Rehearsal will be in Dr. Suzuki's choir room in the Fine Arts building. I am working on a clarification of the words "last time only" at the top of page 6. When I get it from Dr. Suzuki, I'll pass it on to you. I've heard good comments about this selection from some of the choruses. I am told by some of you that the tempo is quite brisk. That is the tempo that Dr. Suzuki gave me.

As always, if you have any questions about anything, concerns, suggestions, etc, get back to me.
