Enemy-All | This handy materia allows a spell that would normally hit a single target to hit all targets. The amount of levels an Enemy-All has equals the amount of times you can use it in a single battle. Enemy-All can only be used in conjuction with Green materia, but will not work with some spells, such as Ultima and Exit magic, which affects all enemies/allies regardless. Elemental | This links to either green or red materia. It takes the elemental type of the materia it's linked to and gives that attribute to your weapon or armor, depending on where it's at. If it's on your weapon, you do the damage of the particular element you're linked to. If it's with your armor, then damage from that element is halved at level 1, completely prevented at level 2, and absorbed as HP at level 3. Added Effect | A nice little rock that gives your weapon or armor the conditions of the materia it's linked to. For example, linking Added Effect to Mystify on your weapon with allow you to confuse the enemy when you hit them. HP Absorb | Hooking this to a green, red, or yellow materia with allow you to absorb HP equal to 1/10 of the damage dealt. Also note that if you hook it to a non-damaging yellow materia like Sense, nothing will happen | Northern Crater |
MP Absorb | Similar to HP Absorb except you receive 1/100 of the damage dealt in MP. | Wutai |
Steal As Well | When the green, red, or yellow materia this is linked to is used, the character also attempts to steal from the enemy. Like MP and HP Absorb, it can't be used with some command materias. | Wutai |
MP Turbo | The Summon or Magic spell this is linked to becomes x% more powerful and uses x% more MP to cast. The value of x depends on MP Turbo's level (10% on level 1, 20% on level 2, and so on). | Wutai |
Sneak Attack | When a battle begins, the materia this is linked to (red, green, or yellow) is automatically cast at the highest possible level. The chance of this happening equals the materia's level. | Chocobo Races |
Added Cut | Works exactly like Added Steal, except is launches a regular attack when the spell or command is used. However, you can't use this in conjuction with Double-Cut or Slash-All. | Ice Gate |
Magic Counter | When the character possessing this is attacked by a spell or physically, the materia this is linked to is cast at the highest possible level. The chance of this happening is equal to the level of Magic Counter. | Chocobo Races |
Final Attack | Definitely one of the most useful materias in the game, this allows the character holding it to cast one last spell before he/she perishes. Although you can connect it to any green, red, or yellow materia, your best bet is to connect it to Revive, or better yet, the Summon materia Phoenix. This way you can come back to life and have another shot at beating that nasty beast! The amount of times you can use this is equal to the level of Final Attack. | Battle Arena |
Quadra Magic | Another good one, this allows you to cast one spell from the linked materia four times, for the price of only one casting. The number of times you can do this in a single battle corresponds to the level of the Quadra Magic materia. | Small Cave by the Beach |
Command Couter | Whenever the character with this is attacked with weapon or spell, he/she counters with the materia this is linked to. This only works with Steal, Sense, Throw, Morph, Deathblow, Manipulate, and Mimic. | Northern Crater |
