Opportunity: ChoiceStatement of unityIn many of the world's democracies, parents and teachers have a choice between dozens of schooling options for their children and their career. Government funding is provided directly to parents to choose whatever school they believe is best suited to their family's needs. Yet most Americans lack the economic means to make this fundamental choice – and in our inner cities, where the need for better education is acute, nearly all do. Opportunity: Choice is a research and public information program sponsored by the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution. The program reports on the successes of school choice programs around the world, and in such U.S. cities as Milwaukee and Cleveland – and works with ministers, parents, teachers, and others in needy communities to help promote and expand school choice. It is working in partnership with the Urban Hope program to help parents and communities take advantage of choice programs as they grow. If we work together, there is hope for our families, our schools, our cities. Opportunity: Choice works to bring that message to those who need it most – and empower them to make that hope real through school choice. We support this vital effort, and invite you to join us.
