Though best known for puppets and goofy children's programs like "H.R. Puffenstuff", in the early 1970s Sid & Marty Krofft created a live-action tv series about a modern family who are on a river that suddenly empties into another world containing primitive life - dinosaurs, cavemen, and some nasty creatures that may be from another planet or dimension: Land Of The Lost. Each morning one might find oneself being eyed by a curious brontosaurus or a nasty t-rex...

The NBC series would last many years and is sometimes seen on SYFY channel. Each season started in September and ended in December, with reruns the rest of the year. The following videotapes of episodes may be available:

First and Second Season Theme Song
Marshall, Will and Holly
On a routine expedition
Met the greatest earthquake ever known
High on the rapids It struck their tiny raft (insert screams here)
And plunged them down a thousand feet below
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
To the Land of the Lost
Third Season Theme Song
After Poppa Marshall managed to rescue himself and strand the kids,
it was time for a new parental figure to take over.
Make way for Uncle Jack.
Will and Holly Marshall
As the earth beneath them trembled
Lost their father through the door of time
Uncle Jack went searching
And found those kids at last
Looking for a way to escape
From the Land of the Lost
Ending Theme
When I look all around
I can't believe the things I've found
Now I need to find my way
I'm lost I'm lost find me
Living in the Land of the Lost

If Land Of The Lost movie is a hit, they next plan a big-screen version of H.R. Puffenstuff starring Johnny Depp as Witchiepoo. Billie Hayes, the original Witchiepoo in 1969, says in TV Guide, "Johnny would be perfect! He's zany, off-the-wall, has experience in wild makeup and could let it rip!" She doesn't worry about being replaced by a man, "Witchiepoo's not a sex symbol...though God knows I tried!" Will Ferrell, starring in the movie version of Land Of The Lost, previously starred as Darren in the big-screen version of Bewitched, and as a human who had grown up as one of Santa's elves.
