Purgatory
In the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, the state after death in which
the soul destined for heaven is purged of all unpunished or unrepented minor Sins.
Souls in purgatory may be aided by the prayers of the living.
The Orthodox have not adopted the Western terms for the concept of purgatory,and Protestants have generally abandoned it.
