Ok, I have this theory that everything is conncected in this world and that all of our actions will inevidably affect someone else either positively or negatively. Someone might recognize this theory and call it "transcendental". Anyways, if you don't believe me..take this for example..something as simple as say, buying alchohol affects someone negatively in the world..why you ask? Well, this is a true statement, the world sepnds more on alchohol annually than it costs to set up education in the developing world. There's sop many atricoties in the world that can be solved, but the only thing that is keeping the solution from exsisting is us. Onbe of the main rasons this is true is because a lot of people have the "out of sight out of mind" plague. Like "oh, you know aids will only eventually kill 10 % of Arfica's population, am i lucky i live in north america" Could you imagine if the same situation in Africa faced North America? A lot more action would be taken, the AIDS problem is still huge in North America, but we do, in most cases try to give support to people suffering with the disease..that's because financially, we can aford it. Most people in Africa who contract the disease cant even afford to see a doctor, let alone get some of the medications that seem to prolong the lives of people living with HIV. What I am trying to get at here is that yes, the problems are huge and mabye overwhelming to some. That doesn't mean that you don't have to do anything, the truth is we all have to do at least something..If you don't fight what angers you, it only gets bigger./ There are ssevral groups such as food not bombs, amnesty interntional, anti racist action..et cetera that are in many cities and communities to get involved with. if there isn't, you can always support one of these or other groups financially or even literally by writing leetters to organizations you might not agree with or to politicians who you feel aren't doing enough. I'm sure that some of the people sitting on their comupters in their surburban homes just don't care, but look around yuou, at all you have and probably take for granted. Could you imagine not havinbg 3/4 of the things you see around you? Could you live without TV? The internet? Clean water? Mabyeyou don't agree with me at all, that's alright..it's your opinion..and this page was just designed to give my opinion and hopefully get out to some people. But if you're this far down, let me thank you for taking the time to read and understand my thoughts. If you'd like there's some links below that may help...if you have any addresses i should post, by all means e-mail it to me. Have a nice day and thanks again, pixie.
