Well this is most interesting? Norm Carter and Derry Simpson are running again in the next election. WHY? After the people of this town voted for incineration, these two shadows did everything in their power to block the development of one. Council's answer at that time was to dump garbage up at the airport then cover it over with truck loads of dirt.
I was invited by the up there by the CCC group. As they dug around with a shovel, they exhumed old boots, dead animals, oil cans, and etc. I also remember Councilman Norm Carter saying to a few of these people later that he did not care to discuss the the problem of garbage being dumped at the airport, because there simply was no garbage being dumped. Also the CCC were being accused of "planting" the garbage around to make the Council look bad. This was brought up at the All Candidates meeting by Herb Gawley.
For the last 3 years it seems that all I have heard from Derry Simpson is, "Your Worship, I don't understand...I wish someone would explain." The question is this. If he never seems to understand, why should anyone one want to vote for him? For 3 years he demonstrated that he is one of the last great nay sayers of our time. I was often tempted to to send him a tee-shirt with the words "I OBJECT!" on the front.
I remember when Carter placed an ad in the paper during the election accusing me of being apart of a secret letter writing group that was plotting to smear the Council in order to get into office. I had at the time certain political questions and was never told what to write. Bad paranoia on Carter's part.
As far as Bob Astrope goes, he shouted long and loud to get an incinerator. For 3 years he has only just gone through the motions of getting one. He promised during the election that this was top priority. So what happened? When I confronted him about it, all I got was a wink and a nod. "Don't worry Richard, we're going get that incinerator." So what happened? Bottom line here is that talk is cheap! We voted for an incinerator. So where is it?
