Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Powell River voters will be casting their ballots for two vacant council seats...
                                              Dec. 12th 2001

What a sudden surprise. Councillor Linda Misner and councillor Judi Tyabji Wilson resigned. I imagine now that there will be a soup kitchen line-up of people that are going to be putting their name in for election. Maybe as high as twenty people. Everyone and his dog may come out of the woodwork.

Because times are tight many feel that running for council is a quick buck in their pocket. If you are one of these people that think this way, then think again. It is a tough thankless job!

Also this town has a habit of complaining yet to do nothing about it. When I worked hard to bring in an incinerator into this town, everyone one cheered me on, but not one of them gave me any help. On a side note, if did have a an incinerator, it has been proven that we would not have to worry about the local economy again.

This is a job that pays very little and makes you hated by many people in town. No matter what you do, the town's people begin to light the torches and start yelling "We ride tonight!"

If you wish to run in the next election, then know this. The road that leads to council is not paved with gold, it is paved with dedication, hard work, and low pay.
