Does Speed Kill?

Have you seen the government commercials that say "Speed Kills." Hmmm. Let's see. The speed limit in town here is 50k. That works out to about 30 miles an hour. So if you go past 30, you're then considered a killer because speed kills. Nice propaganda the government is weaving on TV.

Did you see the one where one speed walker is walking behind another walker saying, Hurry up! The reason the so called speeder is fed up is because the fellow in front is going so slow.

This is what happens to me all the time. I am the only car on the road but there is a car on the corner that roars into action to cut me off. Instantly the driver's break lights come on as he decides that he is going to go 20 miles an hour. In fact I was stuck behind a man going 15 miles an hour. That's right. 15 miles an hour! Many times I see cars almost collide as they try to pass the slow driver.

People are very busy, tight schedules, kids to pick up, short lunch hours, appointments to keep etc. People do not have time to diddle dally about behind slow stubborn drivers. This is a busy world where people have places to go to, so why are we burdened with such ridiculously low speed limits around town. The reason the are so low is because the government wants to force us to break the speed limit so that their cash expands at an even faster rate.

Speed doesn't kill. Going past 30 miles an hour doesn't kill. Drunk driver, and slow divers forcing people into the on coming traffic does. Now in order to bring in even more pork, they want to set up photo radar on top of street lights. I remember hearing one cop say on the radio, "Well if it saves one life it's worth it." Well how about we ban the use of cars and save millions of lives!

What really annoys me are those government ads paid for by us that show people that want to get beyond a SLOW speed limit as dangerous and out of control. They are represented as people who change pool lanes, walk behind others pushing them along, and running down children that may run into the street. Like I have that happen to me all the time. Children are everywhere in the streets.

Because I may pass snail drivers or drive pass 30 miles an hour in town, I also highly object to the government ads painting me as some kind of insensitive reckless idiot who kills people with my speeding car. What a nutty world.
