THE 2007 PRE-PATCH...

VIEWS FROM THE PATCH WHEN YOU'RE NOT HERE
TODAY'S THE DAY **IF IT ISN'T RAINING!**FOR THE OPENING OF THE 2007 SEASON!

It's raining again on Tuesday morning October 2 but a good time to clean up the #1 PUMPKIN PLACE and let the rain do the washing up...isn't LIFE FULL OF RAINBOWS!!

This shot at the Patch is also being featured in the ALBERT LEA TRIBUNE front page above the paper's name during the month of October.....

looking something like this THANKS to Brie Cohen of the Tribune who came out to take her own picture....LOOKS GREAT BRIE**THANKS!

Even with the rain this weekend, we are getting things set up and ready to go for Friday!
At least we have some CLEAN pumpkins!

Hard to believe that in just a month, the PATCH WILL BE OPEN (October 5th). But, I guess it's time as they are sure starting to ripen!

Max is guarding 16 pie pumpkins that I picked for a wedding on September 8...there are some great looking pumpkins in that area that WILL MAKE FANTASTIC PIES and, as Mr. Food would say, TASTE OHHHH SO GOOD!

A WIND TAKES DOWN A BIG BRANCH AT #1 PUMPKIN PLACE...

When I returned from Alaska, a big branch had fallen but just missed the Pumpkin House. On August 6 they came and removed it so will be ready to go when the Patch opens!

THE PUMPKINS ARE REALLY GROWING....

Driving in, you can see the patch is really growing. The plants are starting to "tumble" which means they will start vining out, flowering and producing those pumpkins you'll be looking for in October!

I cultivataed for the last time on Sunday morning, July 8th before church when it was cool for the pumpkins, the tractor and FOR ME!

You can see how much they've grown by comparing it with the picture from June 16th below..in just two weeks!

Got the patch cultivated over the weekend of July 1 and so the vines will have plenty of area to spread out in.

THE PUMPKINS ARE UP**SATURDAY, JUNE 16TH!

When Max and I took a walk Friday (June 15th) at noon, we could already see the pumpkins coming up through the surface and after the nice rain shower Saturday morning and 2" Saturday night,
THEY ARE POPPING UP ALL OVER!
It's amazing as it only took 5 days for them to surface--5 DAYS! Notice the dead grass that Rick dug up and left..with the hot dry weather, they really dried up well and in the row will act as a cover to block the sun which would help other weeds to come up...
gotta love this GARDEN OF WEEDIN concept!

JUNE 10, 2007**THE PATCH IS PLANTED!
Justin was here today and in 2 hours over 20,000 seeds were put into the ground for YOUR PICKING in October!

HERE ARE A FEW MORE PICTURES SHOWING OUR 2007 PLANTING--
PROVING MAX AND I DID HELP TOO!!

On Saturday, Rick came up with the BIG NEW TRACTOR and DIGGER to clean up the patch that had grown a good crop of weeds.

With his BIG TRACTOR, it doesn't take long to get it all done!

While Rick dug the field, my LITTLE OLD TRACTOR waited for his chance with the planter--
he's resting up!

While Justin drove the tractor and planter, I followed with the seeds to keep the buckets filled with seeds.

And while all this is going on, MAX is patiently watching everything from the back of the GREEN MACHINE. For me, it was just nice to sit down and relax with him!
Anyway, we got it done and now ready for another rain!
