    JANUARY 4, 2000

  • Knott's Berry Farm -- Rumors are going around that Knotts Berry Farm may remove Windjammer. Windjammer may be replaced with some kind of megacoaster, possibly a clone of Magnum XL-2000.

  • Paramount's Carowinds -- Source's have told me that they have begun to notice something was clearing up beside Drop Zone and Hurler at Paramount's Carowinds. They asked around the staff. They didn't know anything. They asked their friends and they said they saw it too and we're guessing it's for 2001 or 2002. Definitely not for 2000 because we're gonna get the first true coaster that you get completely wet (Super Saturator). But that area besides Hurler/DZ is mysterious. Since its not for 2000, it could be something BIG. (What would they be clearing up land for something THAT BIG? Possibly USA's first vertical coaster or what do you call these coasters that are 400+ foot tall? giga? teracoaster? I'm assuming it's a B&M or Vekoma. Possibly a flying coaster... WHO KNOWS... estimate cost: $20 million-$30 million.

  • CONFIMRED -- World's of Fun -- The park has announced that they will be installing a standard Vekoma Boomerang Coaster. The 125 foot tall Boomerang will be placed in the African Themed area of the park. Park officials also say that Boomerang will also have the special record of the only roller coaster in the midwest that will propel riders both forward's and backward's. What about Mr. Freeze at Six Flags St. Louis??? Something just doesn't add up here.

  • CONFIRMED -- Six Flags Ohio -(GEAUGA LAKE) - The Name change is now official, and SFO will be recieving $40 million on improvements in 2000. The VILLIAN, a classic wooden roller coaster from CCI. Standing 120 feet tall, the steel structured, wooden tracked thriller sports 4000 feet of track and speeds of upto 60 mph. Then we have BATMAN KNIGHT FLIGHT, the midwests only floorless looping steel coaster designed by B&M. This coaster will have 3 train's flying through 5 inversions along 4,210 feet of twisted track. Yet another, SUPERMAN ULTIMATE ESCAPE, Intamin's second impulse coaster. An elongated, stretched U shaped track layout features a single seven car train suspended from overhead rails. Guests experience a powerful LIM launch back and forth between two 180 foot tall verticle towers, one of the tower's incorporates a heartline spin. And for the whole family, ROADRUNNER EXPRESS, a Zierer Tivoli family coaster, a 50 foot tall Hopkins Shoot the Chutes, a new waterpark, Looney Tunes Boom Town and 2 new shows, Batman Thrill Spectacular and the Looney Tune's Inspired What's Up Rock.

  • CONFIRMED - Six Flags New England - (Riverside), Yet another park to recieve the Six Flags Treatment. SFNE will be recieving $45 million in additions for 2000 starting with SUPERMAN RIDE OF STEEL, an Intamin hypercoaster will anchor a brand new 12 acre themed section and feature a 221 foot plunge into a underground tunnel. FLASHBACK, a Vekoma Boomerang coaster relocated from Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. POISON IVY'S TWISTED TRAIN, a Zierer Tivoli family coaster. Other improvement's include: a new entrance plaza, NIGHTWING, (a Huss Flyaway), SCREAM, (a S&S Turbo Drop), WIPEOUT, JUMPING JACK, and also the 2 new Shows.

  • CONFIRMED - Six Flags Holland - (Walibi Flevo) The first park outside North America to recieve the Six Flags Tradename and makeover. SFH will be recieving $45 million in improvements for 2000. An un-named wooden coaster designed by Dennis Starkey with trains supplied by Vekoma. This ride will stand 100 feet tall and will travel at 50 mph over 10 hills and 7 curves. SUPERMAN -- Themed LSM launched looping steel coaster from Vekoma. This uses a simular launch on which the Disney MGM Rock N Roller Coaster in Orlando was based. BOOMERANG -- Self explanitory. WILD MOUSE -- Steel coaster from Mack. Other additions include a Top Spin, 147 foot tall Ferris Wheel, train ride, antique cars, double inverter, Chaos, many kid rides. SFO will also be showing the new Batman Thrill Spectacular incorporating into an existing theatre along with a new main gate and front plaza area themed to 1940s era Hollywood.

  • CONFIRMED - Six Flags Mexico - (Reino Aventura) SFM will recieve $40 million in expenditure's for 2000. MEDUSA, a 4000 foot long CCI Woodie is destined to redefine the parks skyline. This terrain twister will offer steep drops and numerous ground hugging elements. BATMAN THE RIDE, a standard Vekoma SLC. Other new attractions includea Polyp, Tomahawk, Double Decker Carousel, Crazy Pineapple, Sky Coaster (relocated from Six Flags Hurricane Harbor in Dallas Texas), a 185 foot tall triple tower Space Shot/Turbo Drop complex from S&S, Double Inverter, Chaos, Space Gun/Dance Party/Tea Cups, Go-Karts, and a collection of kiddie rides along with the Batman Thrill Spectacular.

    DECEMBER 6, 1999

  • CONFIRMED -- Adventureland, Des Moines, Iowa -- Adventureland will be recieving a new carousel and himalaya ride for 2000. It is also rumored that the park may also install a Chance Inverter.

  • CONFIRMED -- Geauga Lake -- Looks like Geauga Lake will also be recieving a 50 foot tall Shoot the Chute ride for 2000.

  • Riverside Park -- It has been said that the park has announced that they will be recieving a Superman Ride of Steel hypercoaster and an Invertigo multi-element coaster for 2000

  • Six Flags Astroworld -- It came to our attention that at the IAAPA CCI Booth there was a artist's redition of a Ghost Rider style ride that said Astroworld New for 2001. It would really be nice for the park to recieve a CCI woodie of this nature.

  • Six Flags St. Louis -- We are told that the park signed a contract with B & M for a floorless coaster for 2001. The rumor's say that it is possible that the Ninja and the River Creek Mine Train could both be removed for this coaster. The mining theme in this area would really fit the Medusa theming well.

  • Six Flags America -- Rumor's have it that the park will be installing a modified version of Superman - The Ride of Steel, along with several new flat rides.

  • Cedar Fair L.P. -- I have been told that Cedar Fair has bought 400+ acres of land in Southern Michigan , possible new park to add to it's arsenal of parks? Wow! I Hope this one is true as it would give Michigan Adventure's a bit of competition.

  • Six Flags Great America -- This little tidbit comes from a close friend of a security guard at the park. They tell us that due to low ridership the Whizzer will be replaced by a dark blue suspended coaster in 2000. Also they said that some of the extra queing lines for the American Eagle will be removed to place another motion simulator in 2000.

    NOVEMBER 15, 1999

  • Morey's Pier -- This update comes from a concession's manager. The Jet Star coaster has been removed, and will be replaced by a new Pinfari mid-sized coaster.

  • CONFIRMED -- Six Flag's Fiesta Texas -- Superman Krypton Coaster, a $20 million dollar floorless coaster is planned to debut in spring of 2000. Superman will lift you 168 feet to the top of the quarry wall which surrounds nearly all of the park, then will drop you 160 feet at 70 mph. Next Superman will flip you in a 114 foot tall verticle loop, followed by a 96 foot tall dive loop, a zero G-roll, and a 78 foot tall cobra roll (2 loops), and 2 corkscrews. The ride will conclude with a high speed near 90-degree banked spiral turn. It will only take a little over 3 minutes to complete the 4,025 foot circuit. Superman is designed and being built by the famous Swiss Consultant's Bolliger and Mabillard. Superman will have 3 - 32 passenger trains, with 8 - 4 abreast cars per train, allowing a maximum capacity of 1,600 passengers per hour.

  • CONFIRMED -- Six Flags Magic Mountain -- Goliath, an all steel mega coaster is to debut in early spring of 2000. Towering 225 feet high, Goliath will have one of the worlds tallest and steepest drops (61 degrees)in the world. Goliath will travel at a top speed of 85 mph during it's 4,500 foot circuit. Rider's will experience a 700 foot long Camel Back with a floating G area, a 120 foot long underground tunnel filled with smoke, spiral curve, carousel curve, and a high speed curve. Goliath will be equipped with Three five-car 30 passenger trains, with 2 abreast seating. Goliath is manufactured by Giovanola of Switzerland.

  • CONFIRMED -- Six Flags Marine World -- The West's first Floorless Supercoaster is in the works. Medusa will feature the world's first back to back Sea Serpent Super Loops. Medusa will be 150 feet tall and will achieve speeds of up to 65 mph through seven inversions including the Sea Serpent, dive loop, 128 foot tall outside loop, zero G roll, and two corkscrews. All this will occur on Medusa's 3,937 feet of track and all at a cost of only $15 million.

    NOVEMBER 9, 1999

  • Six Flags St. Louis -- This update comes from a full time supervisor in park operations. Black Thorn, the new woodie for the park has started verticle construction. The Coaster is being built by CCI. Black Thorn will feature a 147 foot lift hill followed by an initial drop of 173 feet and will reach speeds of up to 68 mph during it's 6000 foot course. Black Thorn will feature 3 helix's, 2 of which are part of a pretzel twist which is only found on this coaster. Black Thorn will also feature the world's first (double - drop) which will drop you straight, then half-way down, then twists you 180 degrees and dives into a ravine. Black Thorn is slated for opening in May of 2000.

  • Six Flags St. Louis -- Also, the park will recieve a Zierer family coaster with a Marvin the Martian theme.

  • CONFIRMED -- Cedar Point -- Millennium Force, the world's tallest (310 feet), fastest (92 mph), and most overbanked (122 degrees) coaster. Construction is going great, as they are currently working on the 5th tower for the lift hill, tracking should begin by Thanksgiving.

  • CONFIRMED -- Knott's Berry Farm -- The Farm has begun construction on Perilous Plunge. When it debut's in 2000 it will be the tallest, steepest and fastest water flume ride in the world.

    NOVEMBER 4, 1999

  • CONFIRMED -- Drayton Manor -- The Apocalypse 2000, an Intamin Giant Drop which will allow 2 of the 4-passenger cars for riders to stand up. Once at the top of the tower, the passengers will be tilted forward 20 degrees. The stand up portion of the ride will pull 4+ G's while the sit-down portion will pull approximately 3 G's. The ride is to cost 3.5 million dollars and will be 180 feet tall and reaching a top speed of 50 mph. Only four sides of the pentagonal shaped tower will be used in the beginning, the 5th will be left for later innovations. The other new for 2000 project is a western themed interactive family ride where passengers shoot at targets as they ride through the attraction.

  • CONFIRMED -- Geauga Lake -- Soon to be Six Flags Ohio, has been ammended to allow for construction of a 157-foot tall steel roller coaster. Park officials say that all of the thrill elements will be located in the area for zoned thrills. The park will be receiving a large capital push for 2000, and some insiders say the park could build as many as 5 new coasters on the property.

    NOVEMBER 1, 1999

  • Kennywood Park -- Kennywood will be receiving a new ride in 2000 that will replace the Wonder Wheel. It is called a Hawk 48 and is supposed to simulate a looping coaster. Zamperla is the company that manufactures the ride. They will also be expanding towards the Exterminator and making the bathrooms by the Log Jammer handicapped accessible.

  • Kennywood Park -- Rumors have it that the Exterminator will be remodeled and rethemed for 2000..

  • Six Flags Darien Lake -- A new secret project will be announced after Frightfest. It is said to be a LIM launched stand-up coaster, which would be a prototype since there are no other ones like it. It will be built by B&M and will be the first ever launched Stand-Up rollercoaster. The passengers are said to face each other while riding. The unconfirmed name is "The Dark Side".. WOW I hope that is true !!

  • Riverside Park -- 2 new coasters for 2000. Superman Ride of Steel, and an Invertigo.Plus a tower added to the Hellevator. New and old flat rides to be added. And the park will take the Six Flags name.

  • Busch Gardens Williamsburg -- A new rollercoaster for 2000, it is rumored to be a 300 ft. tall hyper coaster with speeds of up to 90 miles per hour.

  • Six Flags Marine World -- Tracks and supports have arrived in SFMW!!! Spread out all over the front parking lot to the right of Kong, are purple and aqua colored supports for the new coaster. To the left of Kong in the storage area, you can see footers all over the place. To put all other assumptions to rest at once and for all, this is a B&M floorless coaster. Customers relations confirmed this. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling they'll give this ride an aquatic animal theme, probably a shark.

  • Cedar Point might be adding a second WildCat type roller coaster for the 2000 or 2001 season. A rumored name is "Super WildCat". We currently do not know the location of where this roller coaster might be placed.

  • Worlds of Fun -- During my visit to the park, I spoke to a member of management about plans for 2000. All they were able to tell me is that it will be a Boomerang coaster. The parks says that they are hoping for the inverted style.

    SEPTEMBER 19, 1999

  • Kennywood park in Pittsburgh, Pa might be getting an inverted coaster. We have also heard about a stand-up. These could be placed between the Jack Rabbit and Racer roller coasters.

  • CONFIRMED - Six Flags St. Louis (Source -- St. Louis Dispatch) -- Forget the GCI clone of Roar people! SFSL's new coaster for next year is going to be a brand new woodie that is longer then the Screamin' Eagle, and the Eagle is about 3/4 mile long! We am not sure who the designer or builder is, but wood is coming in massive stacks by the employee entrance. Also, (Rumor) pieces of SFAW's old freefall tower "Skyscreamer" are supposedly at the park. A free fall tower would be a nice addition for next year.

  • Six Flags St. Louis -- A mystery coaster... Rumors say a possible Vekoma Invertago, others say a new stand up coaster (clone of RR)?

  • SFOT is getting a Zierer Family Steel Coaster for 2000. This information comes from the Amusement Business Magazine.

  • It has been reported from a ride operator at Worlds of Fun that the Orient Express will be recieving some major overhauling and a possible new paint job. The Orient Express is scheduled for reopening in spring of 2000.
