Make another one of Tara's favorite foods, chrusciki!
- THINGS YOU NEED...
- 2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 TBS. fat
- 5 egg yolks
- 1 TBS. rum,
- salt
- fat for frying
- vanilla sugar for sprinkling
- HOW TO BAKE...
- Cut butter into flour.
- Add rum and as much egg yolk so that the dough doesn't stick to the flour board while kneeding.
- Beat dough against the board.
- If bubbles appear on the surface of the dough, cover and set aside for 1/2 hour.
- Cut small amounts of dough at a time, roll out }}i{{ this (1/8 inch), flour the board as little as possible.
- Cut in strips 1 inch wide by 3-4 inches long, cutting the ends diagonally.
- Cut a split length wise in the center of each strip (about 1 1/2 inches) and pull through one end of the strip though the opening, level.
- Fry these while they are still damp. Heat fast, test for temperature, fry a few at a time in enough room so they float freely. Fry on both sides to light gold.
- Remove with fork, drain each piece, place on absorbant paper.
- When cool, remove to plate and sprinkle perfusely with powered vanilla sugar.
I have never tried this recipe so I dont know much about these or how they taste. I got this recipe from David , if you would like to email him you may click here.
