Relationships
The struggle between black women and feminists can be described as a fight for
definitive authority. Black women demand the power to define themselves
intraculturally and feminists seek the power to define themselves inside all
cultural groups and for all women. Black women assume the right to develop
language that represents themselves, while feminists construct language in the
name of all women. Yet, 75 - 80% of white women still reject the feminist label.
