Why are there poor people? If the rich would just share their wealth with those who are "the have nots"? Well, it's easier said then done! If you do just give hand outs-will this really help the poor? No, you need to "teach them how to fish instead of giving them a fish-this will last them a lifetime" (popular saying).
However, you do have to agree that the rich are getting rich and the poor are getting poorer...
