Widow Outreach

(NEW SITE)

"3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary...7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly."-Luke 18

I (Sal) love

women

! They are built with so much compassion and sensitivity to use God's gift of carring for us "guys", men, and children overall.

It hurts to see hurting women, which I dedicate this website to them-especially single mom's.

I began to see more of this issue on "widows" when I met this older lady in town raising two kids by herself. My heart was touched to do what I can to help this women to get back into her feet. I couldn't do it by myself, which another church in town put a lot of effort to do the same.

    TobyMac - Irene

"TobyMac's song "Irene" from the "Momentum" cd."

Are you divorced? Are you single and have kids? Have a boyfriend or girlfiend and have a kid together? Well, the Bible mentions you a lot!

4But if a widow has children or grandchildren, these should learn first of all to put their religion into practice by caring for their own family and so repaying their parents and grandparents, for this is pleasing to God. 5The widow who is really in need and left all alone puts her hope in God and continues night and day to pray and to ask God for help. 6But the widow who lives for pleasure is dead even while she lives. 7Give the people these instructions, too, so that no one may be open to blame. 8If anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for his immediate family, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.-1 Timothy 3

I was watching the music video called "Irene" by Toby Mac and the video shows a young lady that has a kid. The video starts with her boyfriend getting an argument with her. From there, she takes her baby in a stroller through their (Latino?) community as Toby sings. At the end, she meets her boyfriend with a gift. The song encourages young "Irene" to not give-up despite her circumstances as the Lord is watching her and will take care of her. Cool huh? Give it up to Him no matter what your circumstances are in your relationship.

Last night you had a dream you was the homecoming queen
Today you're 18, happy birthday Irene
quit school you had to drop out to raise your little child
Doesn't seem to be anyone around
You've got to reach up to touch rock bottom
The powers that be keep you downtrodden
Daughter of Zion, I heard you prayer
Just cast your cares and please beware of snakes
They come in all shapes and sizes
Tempt you, put scales on your eye lids
    Don't waste your sorrows
    They'll give you strength tomorrow...tomorrow
Your Calvary's about to come so
Keep your head up, don't you ever let up
This storm will pass you'll be ready for the next one

I found this ministry after searching some resources to help a local "widow" in Morris around 2002. I found this brochure that I kept from a Summer Picnic that H.O.T.C. speaheaded in the Twin Cities, which I get e-mails periodically on needs like this one....

As I write this message, snow is falling! Welcome winter! White as snow, we are thankful that we are white as snow because of what Jesus did for us on the cross at Calvary. Secure in this knowledge of our salvation, we move ahead providing comfort, healing, prayer, and Christian support to the women and children in our shelter house and to the women in our support group.

  • "Be a Disciple
In order to teach our children how to be disciples, we must first model it for them. As single moms and dads, we seek Him first, remain teachable in our actions and worship Him with our lives. In Genesis 5, early heroes also model discipleship principles for us. As we follow their example we are better equipped to show our children what steps to take.
Modeling discipleship and godly living does not mean perfection. In fact, it is humility and brokenness that sets us up for true relationship with God. He wants willing followers—not perfect ones"
