I (Sal) got involved with the deliverance ministry early in my christian walk during college. I was involved with a local church and campus ministry, where I was in the front lines. I've learned that fasting and prayer is critical before this type of ministry begins. One must know what it says in the Word about deliverance. I've learned you need to be "right with God" through confession your own sins before you try to do it to others. It doesn't have to be so dramatic as you seen on televison, but just say "In Jesus' name, I command you Satan to leave...Heavenly Father, I pray that you fill this person with your presence with love".
Today (Saturday, December 16th 2006) I decided to expand more on this topic after several circumstances that one a couple are on-going. My sister has been going through another rough season of "depression" right now, but behind it is also some "spiritual attacks" based on some Biblical teachings in the past. I was reading Exodus 20 (Ten Commandments chapter) last night after a brother in the Lord (from Taiwan) shared about the need of getting rid of "idols" (particularly any necklaces around the neck that symbolizes any idloatry-e.g. crucifx) in the residence my sister is at (right after the Friday fellowship last night during prayer time). I remembered some past "religious-occult" practices that may've contributed to my sister's "attack" growing-up. One is "ouji-boards" (see deceiver) and "Catholic idols" (e.g. Mary, statues of figures, etc...).

Today (Monday, December 11th 2006) I've been pondering about demonic strongholds in different ethnicities. A close one I've been praying for hasn't been herself lately (has had periods of this since a teenager) and was chatting on the phone with someone that knows her about demonic deliverance. I was meditating Luke 4 when Jesus delivered someone from a demon with "authority".
